Here's my version of Orbot and Scratch as they'll appear in my fan comic Sonic Odyssey. In my comic I plan to have Scratch and Grounder start off as Orbot and Cubot. The reason being is that I wanted to reimagine Scratch and Grounder to be threatening while not betraying their comedic qualities (think like the 2012 Ninja Turtles take on Bebop and Rocksteady), so I had to think of how I'd go about their personalities. Then I thought about Orbot and Cubot and how they filled a simialr role to Scratch and Grounder being two robot minions for Eggman but having more distinct personalities from each other (even if it's as simplistic as the smart one and dumb one) but didn't have much combat potential on their own. So I got the idea to merge the two duos that turned into the idea to have Scratch and Grounder start off as Orbot and Cubot. For Scratch's design, to make him a bit more threatening instead of being based on a chicken I based his design off of a cockatrice, which is basically a mythological creature that's a mix between a chicken and a dragon. Also his wings are based on the Vulture's wings from the movie Spider-Man Homecoming. The machine gun on his arm is inspired by the Clucker enemies from Sonic 2 (who Sratch was supposedly based on) who commanded these turret things).

Orbot SA-55/Scratch: One of Robotnik’s robot assistants, is super intelligent with a snarky sassy attitude with an air of sophistication about him, think like a sort of robot butler version of Batman’s Alfred. He constantly bickers with his brother Cubot/Grounder but they both like to torment Snively (a trait programmed into them by Robotnik) oftening annoying him. He’s uptight while holding a sense of resentment towards his organic ‘coworkers’, due to a sense of superiority and just finding organic life absoluting disgusting. He starts off as a lab assistant robot called Orbot until his body got destroyed and was changed into the battle robot Scratch. Snively would take his anger out on him and Cubot until they became battle robots, from then on Scratch and Grounder are often used by Robotnik to physically ‘punish’ Snively when the need arises in addition to their battles with the Freedom Fighters and Robotnik's other enemies.

Robotnik based Orbot/Scratch's personality off of an old butler his family had when he was a kid that he interacted with often and his chicken like features off his time working on his family's chicken farm in his early teens.
