Description
I hope everyone had a great ThanksgivingI was able to get the "Game of the Year" edition of Fallout 3 last month. I haven't really gotten to any of the new stuff yet (seems like the game allows you to level up to around level 14 before it starts throwing Super Mutant Overlords and Feral Ghoul Reavers at you -- those mo'foes are hard to kill!!! And I thought Death Claws were bad
This is my character I created for the game. She's a hispanic chica named Julissa (a name I came up with only two days ago so it's not the name she has in my current game), which is pretty cool conisdering her father sounds like Liam Neeson
I've notice a couple of different things once the new content was installed. There are a couple of spots where Enclave Soldiers respawn, which never happened with the normal version of the game, so I was able to get a hold of a laser rifle the first time I ventured out of Megaton (on the road leading to the Super-Duper Mart). Normally, I wouldn't find laser rifles until I reached the GNR building or the Talon Company started coming after me regularly. But the vendors seemed to start selling some of the good weapons and armor right away. I was able to purchase some Leather Armor from Moira as soon as I got to Megaton so I didn't even bother with the Vault Suit armor she had.
In the main quest I've only just met with Dr. Li at Rivet City but I'm already at level 22 (I like taking my time and I've done quite a few side quests). My first perks were all three ranks of "fast learner", "comprehension", and "educated" and since I start out my Intelligence at 7, I'm getting 20 skill points per level by the time I'm level 4.
And I love the "Grim Reaper" perk which restores all your AP points if you kill an enemy in VATS. I bought Charon's contract in Underworld. He's the first real companion, other than Dog Meat, I've had (I make him lug all the crap I can't carry,
Anyone familiar with the game should recognize the leather armor my character is wearing. True the combat armor, especially Reilly's Ranger armor is much better, but the leather armor just looks better on my girl (again fashion over safety,
....
Okay, I like how my girl's @$$ looks in them
I gave my character Wendy the Riveter's haircut to begin with, then once I was able to get the combat helmet I changed it to "Rough Nite" which looks better with most hats. But then I found this head wrap (off one of the slaver's I killed at the Lincoln Memorial, hehehe) even though it doesn't offer the protection the combat helmet does, again the desire to look good winning out
But shortly after I drew this pic I found a bandana, which offered a bonus point in "perception" so now I'm wearing that, though I had to change her hair cut to "Prim and Proper" because "Rough Nite" did not look good with it.
My prefered weapon is the hunting rifle, specifically Ol' Painless, though I haven't reached the Republic of Dave yet, in my current game. But the hunting rifle is a pretty good weapon to have in the beginning, when you don't have many caps, for stealthly long range attacks, and not as expensive to maintain if you're lucky enough to find a sniper rifle. It also allows you to save up on other ammo such as assault rifle, .44 shells, and laser rounds. By the time I get the Lincoln rifle I usually have about a hundred rounds for it
She also packs a Chinese Assault rifle for when the $^ really hits the fan, like when Super Mutants or Talon Company foos get too close. Now I loved the bat as a melee weapon, sturdy and great for fending against supersledges, but once I found Stabhappy (combat knife with higher damage) I had to trade up.
Right now I'm on my way to find that strange radio transmission that will lead to "The Pitt" expansion pack story, so I'm really looking forward to that
And I know I don't have any straps or holsters to explain how my girl is holding the Assualt Rifle, Stabhappy, or the 10mm pistol. I did that on purpose because, well, I didn't want a rifle sling obcuring the attire and I just didn't feel like drawing holsters for the knife or pistol
I did a quick a dirty background for this WIP, I'll do a proper background for it later, and I'm thinking of adding Dog Meat to the pic, and maybe even Charon.

Yeah, unfortunately it seems like all the best games have their glitches, but Fallout 3 is just so good you can overlook most of them

Awesome work, I'm a Fallout 3 fan myself so it is always great to see somebody else who loves the game.
You know there is a hollowed out rock south east of Megaton, you fallow the outer wall around the city till you get near the SW edge and start looking over the rocks, the one that's hollowed out sticks forward and to the right a bit.
It has all sorts of goodies in it, good place to grab some good items when you first start out.

Really? Cool. I'll have to try finding it the next time I'm at Megaton. Thanks

Great work! I'm loving any kind of Fallout art, and this one is top notch.
Two words for weapons, though: Lincoln's Repeater. Best rifle in the game, though the .44 magnum rounds are a little pricey and hard to find sometimes. It gets easier after you've gone through the Pitt and got the ammo press, though.

I'm glad you like it
Oh, yeah. There are very few weapons that are better than good ol' Lincoln. It usually takes me awhile to get to the Mall so I have quite a few .44 rounds (I get the Scavenger perk as soon as I can and if you go to Cantenberry and invest in the caravan traders they start carrying more) by the time I tomb raid the history museum

Sorry to hear that. Well, I have no good computer period But the game looks great on the 360, especially when playing it on our widescreen plasma (I have gotten really spoiled with the HD, I can no longer stand to play it on my own tv anymore

I have a question, I know we haven't had the time to chat or really in a sense, get to know eachother on an artist level ya know? My question is could I use this character (with your permission of course) for a comic that I'm doing, thats going to get published. I am in no way shape or form reciving any kind of payment and all rights are reserved to their origional owners.

I'm Loving this! It's nice to see you have some art up again. Glad you had a nice turkey day
BTW You totally need to watch Zombieland! I'm so sure you would want to draw a few things from that!

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
I have heard good things about Zombieland. Unfortunately, I don't think it's currently playing at any of my theaters (the recent crush of the new releases pushed even some of the recent movies off the sceens) so I'm probably gonna have to wait until the DVD comes out.

And when it does, Wham shazam grab one!
It's a two sided movie, meaning ppl either Love it or Hate it. I haven't seen anyone post that it was 'so so'. I've seen really bad reviews that it was a crappy movie and really good reviews saying how much they loved it. You should totall check out youtube. Write this in the search engine Zombieland Rules. LOL Enjoy that. They did some promo stuff for the film that just kills me.

Lucky Shades? The only sunglasses I've come across where the ones in the Irradiate Metro and the ones the barber in Underworld is wearing.

You can find the Lucky Shades on a mannequin in a small store(fittingly)called Luckies, it's right at the bottom of the world map just South of the locked entrance to Worthington Station and has a scavenger inside you can trade with.
Beware though, there are dangerous critters roaming that part of the wastes plus Talon Mercs that spawn outside Luckies once you come out.

Yeah, the Talon mercs have already ambushed me about half a dozen times, usually when I'm coming out of metro tunnels. One time I exited a tunnel onto Dupont, I think, where the mercs were waiting for me, but there were a bunch of Super Mutants there too. They all started shooting at me but then they started shooting at each other, except for one Merc (they almost always travel in threes) who was armed with a lead pipe came after me while I was looking for a place to take cover as they fought it out. I shot the foo in the face acouple of times

They're in a little shop south of Tenpenny Tower, there's a scavenger inside. If you go out on the balcony up top, near Tenpanny himself, then go around and look south you can see the shop. Cool bit of kit there.

I think I know the place. Though I haven't been that way towards Tenpenny in my current game yet (but I'll have to go there eventually as "Gotta Shoot 'em in the Head" is one of my active quests ) . And right now I'm all the way up north heading towards the Pitt, but I'll be sure to head that way once I'm done

Oh, and the Lever-Action Rifles (or their special version, the Backwater Rifle) are even better than Ol' Painless. I loved that gun, but as soon as I got my hands on the Lever-Actions I had to store it.
