Description
Despite his having been around since 1939, Batman has never ceased being a major media and cultural icon. He may perhaps be the most popular super hero of all time. Here he is looking over the city he protects, bat symbol in the sky, crime likely abounding in the streets. I'm overall very pleased with the finished product here (coloring that cityscape was PAINSTAKING). The inspirations for this picture lie primarily in the Tim Burton Batman movies and, most especially, The Animated Series. I have to say I'm really not a fan of the direction these past several Batman movies have taken, especially The Dark Knight Rises. They may as well have called that one Batman: Eat the Rich. That's all it was about (at least in the 30 or so minutes I could bear of it before I turned it off). My favorite adaptations of Batman are the old Adam West 60s TV show, the Tim Burton movies, and The Animated Series, which, in the opinion of someone who has never read any of the comics (I have admittedly never really followed comics), is the best of them all.
