Description No, I didn't actually intend the completion of this drawing to coincide with the release of "Rayman Origins", which, by the way, is an awesome game (one of my top 3 favorites for the Wii).
This picture pays homage to the original PSX "Rayman", which is a game I've thoroughly enjoyed since first experiencing it in 1999, both for its stunning visuals, which are still nice to look at even today, and in that it's EXTREMELY challenging. I've never beat this game without the help of the unlimited credits cheat. I would suggest that it were impossible, except that my brother did beat it once with only the extremely limited credits the game supplies.
My drawing depicts the lead protagonists (front) and antagonists (everywhere else) from the game. And although I'm pretty well pleased with the way every character but the Magician came out, I had to rush to finalize this image, since my Mac has problems and overheats and shuts down sporadically. It did this to me TWICE when trying to complete this picture and annoyed the everliving shit out of me both times. Anyway, the characters are:
Heroes (l to r):
To the far left is the mysterious magician, who appears from time to time in the game and offers you sometimes easy and sometimes aggravatingly hard minigames to earn 1ups, which are to be treasured in a game where such things are very rare, and, once they're acquired, they can never be found at the same location again. I feel like my coloring job sucks for this guy. Oh yeah, and on the new game the magician returns as something called a "teensie" (I don't know what these are because I've only ever played the original "Rayman" and "Rayman Origins"), and then reveals something even weirder about himself later on...
To the right of the magician is Rayman himself, the laid-back defender of the Electoons, which are the little pink guys festooned all over the fore.
To Rayman's left is Betilla the fairy, who guards both the Electoons and the "Great Protoon", which "maintains the balance and harmony in the world". In Rayman origins, Betilla is redesigned and super hot.
And in the distance are all the boss characters, and I'll list them in the order they appear in the game:
Moskito (insect thing in the center above Rayman) is the first boss. First you fight a pink one who becomes your buddy, then you fight a red one who doesn't. Moskito's an easier boss because anytime you want to attack him you can just punch him in the face, so, even though he has a somewhat elaborate strategy, if you're skillful enough you can land a lot of bonus hits and wrap things up more quickly.
Mr. Sax is obviously the saxophone dude to Moskito's right, and boss character of the Band Land world, which is one of the most original I've ever seen. He's a lot harder than Moskito since you can't just walk over and attack him. He's got a very elaborate strategy that seems to intensify until he's down to about half his health, and then he just gets easier until about the last 2 pieces of life, where you have to play out his entire battle strategy both times.
Mr. Stone is the rock dude to Moskito's left, and he's kind of hard to see here, being purple, and being set against purple stripes in the background and the purple of Skops the Scorpions' claws. The boss fight with Mr. Stone was a lot like the one with Mr. Sax, you can't just punch him in the face, and like Mr. Sax, about halfway through the fight you get a bunch of freebee hits before he makes you endure his entire battle strategy before depleting his last 2 pieces of health. He's featured here with his little stonelings, which is not what they're really called. They're sort of like his children or something.
Space Mama appears above Sax. Aside from Mr. Dark, she's the hardest boss fight in the game. You fight her first as, like, Viking/ Opera Mama, with 2 pirate dudes, and that's a tough fight as it is. Then you fight her as "Space Mama" at the end of the world, and she's fucking impossible, especially if you make it about halway through the fight, and she gets in this seige behind her washing machine/ spaceship, and starts firing all these lasers at you from her rolling pin. She resides in Picture City, which is another completely unique and original world design.
Skops the Scorpion (behind Stone) steals all the attention in this picture, because he's big, and his linework was very bold to begin with, and didn't suffer much after I resized everyone into the finalized image. Whatever. He's the final boss before Mr. Dark, and he's disappointingly easy. The action sequence you endure with him before the actual fight is pretty tricky, but nothing you can't handle by this point in the game. The actual battle with Mr. Skops is perhaps the easiest boss fight in the game. Why?
Mr. Dark is the game's main villain, as evident by the fact that I placed him at the top of them all. He's seen here holding the "Great Protoon", which he steals, along with the Electoons, and later Betilla. Not only was Mr. Dark good and fucking impossible as a boss, but you can't even get into his world (Candyland, another good one), until you rescue every Electoon in the game. So you literally need to find every secret in the game just to beat it. Which isn't a bad thing at all. So many games provide secrets and sidequests which are so utterly useless, I just never even feel like completing them. Mr. Dark's theme is also really badass.
And all those mean-looking blue dudes are the Antitoons, which are the antithesis of Electoons, and naturally work for Mr. Dark.
And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE no comments asking me "where is (your favorite character)?" Not trying to be a dick, but I ALWAYS see this stupid fucking question anytime somebody does a group fanart picture, and honestly, the answer is always going to be the same. If you want to see a Rayman picture with (your favorite character), go draw it yourself and share it with the world. This is mine, and these are the characters I chose to draw.

What's your other two favorite Wii games?

New Super Mario Bros. and Punch-Out. They were both nearly flawless sequels, NSMBW being, in my opinion, the first true Mario title since Yoshi's Island (SNES). The game I play the most is Smash Bros., because I'm hopelessly addicted to it, but I perceive a great many flaws in it, and therefore would not call it one of the best games for the Wii.
