Location: Most commonly sighted in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey , but has also been sighted in other location in the state as well as other states such as Pennsylvania , Delaware, and Maryland.

Origin: The Jersey Devil’s origins dates back to the 1700’s and the creature was apparently the 13th child of Mother Leeds who is believed by some to be a witch , but this detail varies. Mother Leeds had 12 children and after finding out she was pregnant for the 13th time , she cursed the child in frustration by saying “this one will be the Devil!”. On a stormy night she gave birth to the child with the child at first looking like a normal newborn, but then it began to transform into a creature with hooves , a head of a horse (sometimes a goat’s head), bat wings, and a forked tail. It began to attack everyone viscously and eventually escaped out of the chimney and into the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. The creature’s father is believed to be The Devil himself considering the creature has demonic roots.
