As I waded through the shallow water I kept an eye on the small caves lining the edge of the ravine. They were perfect places for a variety of wild Pokemon to take shelter and I didn't want to be caught unaware.

As I rounded the corner, I caught a glimpse of something blue duck into one of the caves and I moved to a sheltered area to see if I could make out what it was. I pulled out my camera and waited for a number of minutes before it finally emerged. It was a young Nidorina.

Unlike their male counterparts, Nidorina often walk upright, allowing more freedom with their powerful front claws for foraging. Its hide was slick with toxic oils which simmered iridescently in the afternoon light. Their bright colours act as a warning to predators to stay clear as their sharp barbs were filled with powerful venom.

I took a few shots as she watched me from afar until eventually, she wandered back upstream.
