Description

I was trekking through the thickly forested mountains of Northern Kanto. The air was sweet with the smell of soil and nature and birds' songs danced in the canopy above.

Suddenly a loud rustling set the birds off, followed by a chorus of flapping wings. It suddenly became eerily quiet and I could sense I was in danger. Once again I heard a crash of rustling branches followed by hooting that rang out above me and I realised where I was… I was in a Primeapes territory.

My instincts told me to run but I knew that if I did it was far more likely to chase me and once they do, they don’t stop until they catch you. Slowly I placed my bag on the floor and crouched down, hugging my knees. The best way to calm a Primeape down is to make sure you don’t appear to be a threat.

Something large dropped down from the tree above and it landed with a loud thud. I could feel its presence as it waddled over to me. It smelt awful, like a musky body odour mixed with soil.

I daren’t move, the slightest gesture could set it off and send it into a rage. It pushed me a little, looking for a reaction. However, when I stayed still, it huffed and slowly made its way back up into the tree. I kept still for a while until I heard it move off through the treetops. When I checked my personal camera, I had managed to get an amazing shot of the Primate dropping toward the camera!

I’m back gang! Still run down from Covid but well enough to get back to work! Like Mankey, I hate this with every fiber of my being, that being said, I’m quite happy with how this turned out!
