At the conferance

I really tried to shorten the story into something that would be not too long to read, but its still kinda long, sorry! For those of you who cant be bothered to read it all its basically Alva and Lyo meeting again for the first time after Olympics and RER 5 years ago. It ended really awkwardly between them, and this meeting wasnt any less awkward xD

Story:When Alva heard a new conference was being held she had been unsure about going. On one hand she wanted to show Håkon to see how he would be judged. He had done pretty well at the previous conference, and now that he was full grown she was curious how well he would do, and if he was a candidate for stud later in his life. The only thing holding her back was knowing that Lyo was there. Sure, he has also been at the previous conference, but the fact that it was held somewhere in Tibet made the difference. Now it was on his grounds, his stable. Eventually she figured out it would be stupid not to go just because she was scared of running into him. It was 5 years ago since they last met, he probably didnt even remember her. Even if he did she doubted he had held on to the emotions that she had. If they happened to cross paths she would just smile and say hello, and pretend their last meeting hadnt ended in complete humiliation. Alva had managed to avoid Lyo (and Damon), the entire first day. They were of course very busy and it was easy for her to walk another way of she happened to spot one of them. She felt almost ashamed of the way she acted, it was so childish, but the thought of having to greet Lyo and possibly having some awkward small talk with him made her extremely uncomfortable. It wasnt until she lead Håkon to the ring for the stallion halter that she realized Lyo was one of the judged. How could she not have checked that before hand? If she had been nervous for showing the stallion, her heart was now beating twice as hard. She did her best to act normal and gave all the judged a small nod as she entered, doing her best to give all of them a brief glance.

She sighed deeply when she walked out of the ring. Håkon was trotting excitedly next to her, taking in all the new sights and smells and sounds. Alvas heartbeat slowly calmed down the closer she got to the stall. All she wanted was to get Håkon settled in and go back to her hotel. Perhaps find somewhere she could eat and have some wine. Her thoughts were already deep into dinner and what she would spend her evening doing when she heard someone stopping outside Håkons box. She assumed it was Mari with some hay for the stallion. She threw a quick glance at the person and realize they looked nothing like Mari. It probably only took a quarter of a second, but in her mind it seemed like she stood there staring at him for several seconds before her mind clicked into place. "...Oh.. Hello" she whispered and did her best to get her face to respons like a functional human being, instead of just staring empty in his direction.

Lyo could tell from her face that she..probably was hoping not to meet him. He stared back at her for a few moments before opening his mouth to talk , the words came delayed however "Alva... Its really nice to see you, and Håkon looks gorgeous thank you for bringing him " he tried to smile. "How have you been?"

Alva closed her mouth shut and felt her teeth press hard against each other. She took a slow, deep inhale through her nose as he spoke. "I've been fine" she said as on autopilot, its always what you say when people ask you how you've been. "Couldnt miss a chance to get Håkon scored" she picked up a soft brush and went over Håkons fur, not that it was really needed, she and Mari had groomed him until he gleamed before the halter. "The conference seems very successful, congratulations" She felt it was only polite to give him some sort of compliment in return.

He really didnt seem confident at all and more like trying to apologize to even disturb her "Thank you... Truthfully i wish things between us wouldnt be so tense" he started looking elsewhere.

Alva stared at him, almost feeling her jaw drop, but managed to contain herself. "Uhu..." she looked at him for a few seconds longer. "..Why?" she finally asked a bit confused. Why are you still here if you think its so tense, she thought to herself, but saying that out loud would really be crossing the polite-smalltalk-with-strangers-line

"I dont know, so much time passed, do you believe we could just try to have a new start?" he does remember how nice they got along before things came crashing down. Or maybe she was only so relaxed and friendly because she thought hes trying to get into a relationship with her?

"We havent talked in five years Lyo, what would any of us gain from trying to have a new start really?" she turned to look at him, as the conversation got a bit more serious than just small talk. She shrugged. "I dont have any good breeding stock, I dont compete... What would you really get out of it?"

All along their talk, he just now made a step closer "I got to know you as such a carefree, fun person, its just be nice to meet now and then and have a good time?"

"We live too far away from each other to just meet now and then" she said and started unbuckling Håkonds bridle. She pulled the bridle off Håkons head and used it as an excuse to walk past him out of the box, getting a little uncomfortable when he stepped into the box. "I have to clean his bit... Is there running water around here somewhere?" she asked.

"I understand " he said then tried to keep his distance while showing her to the sink with some minimal gesture to follow.

As Alva cleaned the bridle he invited her to join a dressage competition his stable was planning in the future. "I still have your email...will write when we know the exact date" he just put a hand on her shoulder as goodbye "take care and maybe see you around " and walked off where he came from, feeling so sorry if he made her uncomfortable.

"Yeah, sure, do that" she nodded. It was a lot easier to say you couldnt attend over email than in person. She instantly tensed a bit when he touched her shoulder and only managed to give him a slightly tense smile. "Okay, see you!" she did her best to say in a friendly tone. She exhaled deeply when he removed his hand and walked off. Yep she definitely needed that bottle of wine now.
