Comments
First time drawing these characters which I really enjoyed from seeing them appear in 1 and the only episode from the Japanese Headmasters series. I wanted to draw them without their hand weapons since they are primitive monsters and the scene I put them in is from a laboratory they break out of. Heavily inspired by watching the toy commercial of these characters really help me decide where to put them in a picture where they about to counter some Decepticons. The most challenging part was drawing Doublecross's dragon head hands in a perspective pointing out. Knowing the characters only appeared in 1 episode made me love then even more since they are described as interesting characters and now I own the toys of them I really love the 3 and wanted to show my support the Monsters!

Is Twinferno the leader? I ask because I’m working on a monsterbot combiner called β€œGigantus”, and coming up with two more monsterbots for that combiner(and yes one of those two is female).

JP-V In reply to BlueGreymon [2018-10-05 13:28:55 +0000 UTC]

Hi BlueGreymon, cool idea! And to add a female Monsterbot member is a great idea!
As for your question, it was never told or shown if he was the leader from the G1 Japanese Headmasters anime series, which was one of my inspirations drawing this piece with Grotesque and Repugnus. In the episode they featured in called "Rebellion on Planet Beast" was one the main episodes they primarily were seen in with 2 other episodes but they had short scenes.

And they just acted like their original toy bios or marvel comic bios, a monster group doing what they do best.Β

If I were to pick for personalities, It would be either Grosteque or Repugnus since Grosteque's function is "Military Strategist" and Repugnus's function is "Counter Intelligence" and Doublecross is "Supply Procurer".
If I were to pick for designs, well it is really up to your imagination since its a fan project of yours, so have fun with it! They all have awesome designs!

Nice, tell me about it! I love them so much that when I drew them I wanted to get the right feel along with Repugnus and Grotesque.

Right-ON! New creatures and only featured in the Headmasters cartoon, that is so rare! Thank you very kindly!

I love the Monsterbots, too! Personally, I'm still baffled at how they forgot Grotusque's robot mode wings in that episode, but those where wonky times so who cares.

This is really a great piece you made here. Loving the perspective on Doublecross' "hands."

JP-V In reply to SigmaCore [2012-08-13 08:44:50 +0000 UTC]

It's nice to know someone like yourself loves these bots too, which is great since they are rare to see. I know I was curious why did they leave them out in the cartoon/anime, they do look so cool and you make a good point to make me re-do Grotesque fan art one day with his wings!

Thank you so much for your kind response Sigmacore! I'm happy to have read your comment and knowing you like the perspective and Doublecross's hands which is the main feature I was focusing my best to get them right. ^^

Once again also thank you for the favourites on this and my Transformers - Seacons!

Someone like myself? Frankly, I've never considered myself as anything but "normal". All I've ever been is a doodler with a very big nostalgia problem concerning TFs. But thank you for the compliment nonetheless. It does mean a great deal. Oh, and you're more than welcomed for the Seacons fave! I only have the TFCC Classics/Timelines version of these guys myself, and have kept them combined ever since I got my hands on them.

I also have all three original Monsterbot toys, and all subsequent releases of them. Well, Repugnus' subsequent toy releases anyway. Always though Hasbro could try and get a Grotusque out of the BW Tigerhawk toy and Doublecross out of the Cybertron Scourge figure. A friend of mine did repaints out of Cybertron toys a few years back here , here and here , using what he had on hand as available repaint fodder. The results are three-pack release worthy in my opinion.

My pleasure! If you have that problem I also have it too with great passion!
Very good to know! I also too own a original set and haven't transformed it back to 6 but I will when I have time to play with them again.

O I'm happy to know that, they are such wonderful toys once again I might add they are big and aesthetic looking. Well that is creative to improvise those characters into those toys. Good job to you and your friend! They look cool.
Thanks for replying it was fun and interesting to read your thoughts on some Transformers!

Killer pic JP-V! I love the feel of the atmosphere of the drawing, like they're warning you to get out of their way hehe!

I think it was a good idea to draw them without their handguns, it makes them seem more dangerous. Its like they just escaped and didn't have time to grab a weapon

I love the background, the clouds in the sky are so realistic! They're so light and feathery, I can't ever get my clouds to like like that! I also like how the Monsterbots are slightly sharper than the background, it makes them stand out against the rest of the picture. Beautiful work JP-V!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JP-V In reply to pixiedust96 [2010-12-11 02:51:57 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much pixiedust for the interesting kind comments! I'm happy you got the feel of that!

I'm also glad you like my decision to not add their hand weapons because it makes sense to make it more primitive based on their names and group name. They are like the Dinobots they will use their primitive mode more to use their monsterous brute force and different style of fighting.

Thanks a lot for commenting also on the background. I like doing clouds and the sky. Yes I'm happy you noticed that they stand more which is why I made the background less appealing then the main characters who are the main attraction!

Thank you once again for your positive detailed feedback!

Thank you very much breaker82 for the kind comments.
You answered correctly! It takes a lot of time and effort to get it done. As usual I start off with drawing the picture on paper then lining it on Photoshop to fix up the messy areas and clean it up. I do like to do this process as it comes out nicely but it does take patience and endurance.

Thank you Waseem. That was my goal to make them feel you are going to get eaten from them but mainly for the Decepticons. The yellow 1 is Repugnus the monster!

Seriously-this is getting out of hand-I am 150% certain you can't just do this with being a pro-these are just way too good.

I love how bright everything is-and the detail on everything is mind blowing. Even though I'm not overly familar with these characters I really like this.

Yes the hands is always the main parts I want to make sure is balanced out nicely and the perspectives also too so it just looks right.
I'm glad you think so because I do too which I'm really enjoying heaps.
That's a tough 1, I do like them all 3 in general in their own respective ways but if I had to choose it would be Doublecross because of his unique hands that are only unique to him throughout the whole series.

It's nice you remember Grotesque and that's right he does shoot sparks out of his mouth, at first I didn't know and then I kept pushing his button to do it and was like this is excellent! and same goes for the rest of the Monsterbots.
