Another thumbnail, this time for my new animation about Splatoon 3!

Diving a bit deeper into my exploration of vector art with this one; the lines were done in Adobe Illustrator but everything else was still done in Photoshop. One of the benefits of this method is that it definitely sped things up compared to my usual process. However, it doesn’t quite match the quality of my other linework, not yet anyway. It almost feels a little too sterile, and the line width varies too much in places. Maybe these are things only the artist notices b/c they spend way more time staring at their art than anyone else, haha.

I tried not to let myself get too caught up on these oddities since it was my 1st real go at vector. Also, since this is a thumbnail those quirks won’t be noticeable at such a small size anyway. Thumbnails really do require a different design philosophy than normal. For example, that outline separating Callie’s eye from her bangs might look weird up close but was definitely necessary for the thumbnail to look good. So strange!
