now all you have to do is put them in a Centurian and then you have a smurf inside power armor, inside power armor inside power armor! [Spiritual Liege intensifies]

The contemptors are still larger than Centurions.

haha yeah they dont fit in the 40k universe at all, Im sure they just ripped off mike mcvey's design out of spite

What design is that? And yeah, they kinda remind me of a Happy Meal toy. Not to mention GW put the shooty ones in our heavy support slot, another reason I won't use them. Codex Marines have 'too' many heavy support options as it is.

I dont know if his studio got the idea from them or vice versa.. but he released his way first.. there is no denying the silhouettes are all but identical.Β
I am more than happy with my 3 venerable dredds.. i would love contemptors if i could afford em.

His look more proportionate.

yes they are more utilitarian and less o.t.t, I think he is going for more of an 'Aliens' feel to his sedition wars range.

I agree, the GW Centurions could have really been amazing, but their Mc Donald's Happy Meal feel just kind rubs me the wrong way.

Oh wait. I just Googled them..........original gangster Dreads on steroids...........

Are these things in play now or did you use the design rules to make'em?
They're like mini-Dreads....how close are the costs?
That guy with 2 assault cannons and a cyclone launcher looks expensive. Like an Imperial version of the Obliterators.
Really cool models!

They are Forge World models and use Forge World rules. Slightly larger than a standard dreadnought though they do make good 'count-as' models should an opponent have an issue with their ruleset.
Point wise the Cyclone/Twin-Kheres Assault Cannon Contemptor is 215 points or so, the one without the Cyclone is180, the melee variant I think is like between 180-185. They are higher in point costs but slightly better in armor and so forth.
Really amazing models in my opinion.

The Cyclone/Asscans is like the opposite of the Eldar Dread with Starcannons
215 points doesn't sound bad. It's been a few years since I stopped playing.
I like big blocks of troops complimented by fast attack and artillery/heavy weapons.
I'd use Contemptors.
The models kick ass and your paint job is awesome.

Thanks, really glad you like it Now is a great time to get back into the game though. GW has been really pushing new codexes quickly (If they keep it up every army will have a 6th ed rule set by the end of next year).

I left because of the lack of people my age to play against. I started in 1987.
I hate kids.
I also dislike the way GW handled the Sisters. They had so much potential and what we get is Repentia...

I would have killed you back then
Vortex grenades and virus bombs were still in play. I still have figures from then.
Skaven were people with rat heads

Great work on these!
Is the firing effect modelled on or did you make it like that?
The only remark I have would be that the guns with the fire effect should not point down, would look better in my opinion and make more sense.

The muzzle flashes are from a company called armorcast, I simply glued them on and painted them. Check em out if you get time they are really affordable.
As for the contemptors I like their guns being down and I've caught a lot of flakk for their positioning however everyone does have their own perceptions and opinions. With that being said Ultramarines are known for having fought the Tyranids, a contemptor aiming down is not outside the realm of possibilities. I imagine him firing into an oncoming horde.

Hmm... Could be true especially if the horde consists of Rippers.

Excellent work! Β Your skill never ceases to amaze.
How are the Contemptors in size to the basic Dreadnoughts? Β When I purchased the Tartarus Terms, I was a little disappointed with their size being closer to power armor size.

jstncloud In reply to Ultimate-Bebi [2013-11-06 05:52:54 +0000 UTC]
A little taller than the standard dreadnought, they make for good 'count-as' models when a play group is not cool with Forge World rules.
There are a few areas of improvement on these that could have been done but because I assembled them prior to painting some of the stuff (arm joints specifically) did not get silver paint.
Glad you like them though, if you get any and paint em hit me up with some links so I can check em out

Right, you mentioned it in the video! Derp.
Now you only need a regular dread to make D'Artagnan.
