3rd ENVOY'S JOURNAL - LOG 165

With the Earth now veiled in unnatural darkness, along with the cursed sun looming sickly on the horizon, another great wonder rode forth from the skies. It rained. A rain unlike any that has ever been seen on this world. The scarlet rain. The scientists who collected samples of it could not determine its exact nature. It had the consistency of blood, but it was entirely something else. The molecular structure did not make any sense, and every tests done to divine its nature only led to even more questions. And so it poured... and it poured without end. Every nation on every continent saw the downpour in their own lands. The affliction visited all four corners of the Earth, that not a single grain of soil was spared from this deluge. Peals of thunder and lightning lashed the heavens to no end. This spectacle, it was as if mother nature was gravely wounded, and she is wailing in great pain.

People were told to remain under cover or indoors after reports of an unknown skin condition befalling anyone who came into prolonged exposure to the rain started springing up. In some countries, there are reports of exposed individuals developing a sort of rabid madness, attacking others indiscriminately. It is not known if it is a contagion brought on by the rain, or something else entirely. In other places, reports of individuals becoming catatonic, speaking in gibberish tongues, as they floated in midair under the rain. I don't know. I simply dismiss these rumors as unsubstantiated claims as a result of mass hysteria. People make all kinds of exaggerations in extraordinary circumstances, and the mass media only makes it worse by feeding into the madness.

In the mean time, I will hunker down till this deluge lets up. If it ever lets up. The trip to HQ can wait.
