Description Now with 200% more Fantasia!

Yeah. This is sort of less a cell-shading tutorial and more a walkthrough a picture in which I used cell-shading. |D Sorry?

I hope it's helpful either way.

This tutorial was made using PhotoShop CS. The first one.

Well, I'm not very familiar with Elements, but hopefully this will still be of use to you?

Elements is like Photoshop CS.
Cut in half. xD

...Ah. |D

Then maybe half of the tutorial will be useful? xD

Tocksick In reply to Jupeboxgal [2008-09-01 05:15:16 +0000 UTC]

o3o Maybe.
Like the start the background first thing, I've always started my characters first. XD
-I'll try it your way. :3-

Jupeboxgal In reply to Tocksick [2008-09-01 15:23:02 +0000 UTC]

If you don't like it, you can always go back to drawing the character first. ^___^;

Tocksick In reply to Jupeboxgal [2008-09-01 16:53:59 +0000 UTC]

I think it will be easier drawing the background first..

I think I tried that once though.. And a part of the background was black, and I wasn't able to see the black lineart. ;____; That was the only problem.

>> And with photoshop elements... DXXX

You could always lock the line art layer and paint over it with, like, BRIGHT PINK? Or you could scribble around like I did and then clean up afterwards. |D

How ENTIRELY USEFUL!
I will definitely put this to work.
Soonz.

The way you do eyes is interesting. Unusual. Not entirely related, I'm just saying.

Jupeboxgal In reply to doctorsagree [2008-08-31 03:54:40 +0000 UTC]

Huzzah! I'm glad it's useful.

I used to use DODGE TOOL like a MADMAN and then I decided to just choose my own colors for shading and highlighting. |D

doctorsagree In reply to Jupeboxgal [2008-08-31 04:53:39 +0000 UTC]

-uses DODGE TOOL like a MADMAN-

Well, you know how I do eyes.

But I mean, it's just really unique. I've never seen the patternish thing before.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jupeboxgal In reply to doctorsagree [2008-08-31 12:39:04 +0000 UTC]

YOU MAKE DODGE TOOL LOOK GOOD.
And I'm not knocking the dodge tool. I still use it for this and that. Just not so much for eyes?

Patternish? |D

And thanks.

I like it. 'Tis crafty and helpful.

..I wish I had a steady hand like you do for line art. If I tried to do line art without assistance of the pen tool or a mouse, I'd kill it. Srsly. D: You're lucky.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jupeboxgal In reply to YellowstarInc [2008-08-31 03:23:20 +0000 UTC]

Aww. :< I can't do SUPER LONG LINES, especially if they're supposed to be straightish. Like, swords? Swords kill me. I use the pen tool for swords. |D But pretty much everything else I can do in one stroke.

Blind contours help with that, you know. ;D -nudgenudgewinkwink-

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

YellowstarInc In reply to Jupeboxgal [2008-08-31 03:42:30 +0000 UTC]

I suck at blind contours. When I took art class, I'd do them, and my lines would be relatively straight, but I could never match up the top of the bottle on one side with the other side.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jupeboxgal In reply to YellowstarInc [2008-08-31 03:45:09 +0000 UTC]

Pssssh. You're not supposed to. xD;;; Blind contours are just to get more comfortable with continuous lines and looking for details. ^___^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

YellowstarInc In reply to Jupeboxgal [2008-08-31 15:05:39 +0000 UTC]

XD I still fail at them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jupeboxgal In reply to YellowstarInc [2008-08-31 15:06:57 +0000 UTC]

...Then do more of them so you don't fail any more? xD;; -shot-
