Description
I don't know butterflies, but this looks like some kind of Hairstreak or Elfin. Butterflies are generally too big and too shy for me to get decent macro shots of, but I still try. Sometimes I can get photos of them while they are sleeping , but they are covered in dew. I finally managed to snag a shot of one in the dry daylight, the key was to find one too lazy from the hot sun to quickly get up and move. Not having the dew, I can see a lot of nice details in the wings. They look so fuzzy up close, like some sort of teddy bear monstrosity.Related content

Excellent question. Moths have feathery antennae, while butterflies have club-like antennae (like pictured). Additionally, moths at rest lay their wings down resembling a jet plane, while butterflies at rest hold their wings upright (like pictured). The final clue was that I took this photo during the daytime, and although momentarily resting, these critters were very active on the flowers. I still cannot positively ID this critter, but I still suspect a type of Elfin or Hairstreak Butterfly, if you are curious enough to look up pictures of those...
