Yes, yes, I know, I'm obsessing. But I like taking fantasy into a realistic context, just to see what it would be like. So this is a skeleton of the Atavians of Aetolia [link]

I don't know if you can see it, but what I've done is split the shoulder blade (scapula by any other name) and used it as the socket to hold what is effectively another pair of arms. The human scapula is paper-thin in the middle; obviously, with the atavian, it would have to be quite heavy duty and rugged in order to hold a joint that needs to do a lot of hard work (ie lifting the atavian from the ground).

...the picture started looking reeally creepy as soon as I added the wings. Also, the drawings are a little choppy around the spine area... that's because I'm right handed and I didn't feel like drawing a right AND left side, so I just drew the right side and then flipped it in ever-trusty corel.
