What I used was paper and duct tape. VERY lightweight. Note me if you need details.

I would recommend not using anything at all, to be honest. But if you're making large horns or bent on using a base, I hear styrofoam is a good option. c:

if i might pester you, any idea on how the devil to attach tavros horns? each horn is about 170 grams in weight. i was thinking of gorilla glue (that crap works on everything) but i'm not sure what to do

for those who might see this, no it does not work with model magic. tavros horns and model magic in general apparently don't mix

For Tavros's, a base made of styrofoam covered in a thin layer of model magic *should* work. But Tavros's horns are just plain frustrating in general. u_u; Sadly.

Where do you put them to dry..? If you set it down, the paint on that side will get messed up D:

k2w2 In reply to XNikoKurohyouX [2012-05-13 16:36:46 +0000 UTC]
The paint usually dries pretty quickly. In about a minute. What I did was just paint half, hold the dry end and wait for it to be dry enough to hold the other side while I paint.
Wait. Does that sentence make sense?

hey, er, i really love this tutorial ^^ its really going to help me with my terezi cosplay, but, may i just ask where you get the model magic from? or what could be an alternative to that?

k2w2 In reply to OtterlyKath [2012-02-29 06:55:30 +0000 UTC]
You can get Model Magic from almost any craft store (in the US) or I believe you can order it online... *not positive, though* ^__^;
As for an alternative...? I haven't seen any... D:
I suppose you could use regular clay but it'd be a little bit heavy...

You can buy model magic from most toy stores and walmart usually has it in stock. It's very lightweight, and almost has a foam-like texture, which tends to make it fragile, so be careful with the horns!

Just a question: What do you suggest as a base, in stead of aluminium foil?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
k2w2 In reply to norique [2012-02-05 21:15:34 +0000 UTC]
I suggest not using a base at all, actually. ;b But if that proves or sounds difficult for the horns you're making, I've heard styrofoam is a good alternative. <3

You can get one from almost any craft store. You could also probably find one at Wal-Mart or Target (or some store like that~).
