At first glance, the flatter colors on her face and the oddly narrow muzzle make the illustration seem a bit cartoonish. But the reflections on her body fur look like a very realistic depiction of velvet. The muscles (at least to my untrained eye) look quite realistic too.
I'm curious about the tails, though. How do all the tail bones all fit in such a narrow space and attach to her spine? If you ever do a ref sheet, could you include a skeleton to show how that works?

The texturing is simply god-like. She's so adorable. I love that shade of red, too.

Your capability with traditional media is amazing, and your anatomy looks great. The way you make fur so realistic is great.

Sigh. I love Molly as a character so much and your ref sheet really solidified the image I already had in my head of this particular character after reading her profile on MZDM and whatnot β₯ Her shape and general stance are gorgeous, and I think you -really- did her justice! I can see why Dat chose you to do her ref-sheet.

You could go ahead and do a character sheet in an average manner, or you could of donβt it something like this and make it interesting. Those tails rock.

You used watercolour as a base colour, right? And darkened/highlighted areas with acrylics and markers, finally outlining it with the micron pen?
Sorry if I'm a bit off...Just speculating. I'm doing a few pieces with mixed media, but my skill with markers and acrylics is so pathetic that I've opted to use coloured pencils and an assortment of coloured pens with the watercolor base...-lol- Anyways, I admire the way you can represent fur so beautifully...I have yet to be able to accomplish that feat in my own style...-u.u-

You're close - I used marker as the base - and acrylics for most of the shading - it turned out though, that I didn't have an orange acrylic (uhh, yeah I need to rectify that one soon!) So I used orange watercolor instead for the shadows on the markings, and to paint her eyes, and the shadow beneath her feet.
The fur detail is something that takes a really long time - It helps that I am crazy ^.^, And that I listen to audiobooks while I work which helps the time pass without it being painful.

Wow...I'd say I wasn't close at all! -lol-
Acrylics for shading? That is amazing...My scope for different media is quite limited. I usually either use coloured pencils and inking pens or Adobe, so my goal for this year is to expand my horizons. I appreciate your explanation; just think of all the mess I'd get into trying the way I thought you'd done it...-^^-
I can see now all the places you used the watercolour - markers, in my humble opinion, appear similar for some reason...As for the micons first, that makes sense. I myself ink first, but with the watercolour pictures I've done, I inked last. [Figured I'd make less mistakes that way...]
Audiobooks! Good idea! I usually listen to music, but if Anne McCaffery has any books on tape...-ponders killing two birds with one stone on that notion-

Oh - and the microns came first, before any of the color ^.^ Sometimes I totally forego inking, but it tends to need ink lines if theres no background

Hehe. In seriousness, though, it does seem like something right up her alley. Rich, vibrant, and happy colors... a character that can't help but be a wee little cutie.
Plus you'd have to lay out a reference sheet for a dragon differently. Always 'good' to have something to push the artist's window just a bit with. >.> <.<
