The background was made with a basic blue gradient in the middle, using overlays of white simply lighten the center of the area, once the basic solid was done find a simple cross grating metal texture on "www.cgtextures.com" overlayed onto the background, then just lighten it some more, add highlights and add some hard white lines for the flare type bits etc lol
Very simple, never fear experimenting in your own ways, you just think about things like this logically, build it up one step at a time, if you need any inspiration i recommened adonihs
ps. Your works very good! no joke have a go at painting into your sketches in photoshop, sketching the shape is the hardest part in my opinion

nah don't worry it's all practice, there's plenty of tutorials out there, no joke adonihs is like a god xD
I might do a tutorial sometime if people are interested lol, but it's one of those you can't promise, especially when your busy haha
But keep it up, if your not interested in photoshop just stick to sketches, you have to do what you enjoy and there's some really amazing sketch artists out there, just because it's different doesnt mean its not as good

I love how Rinzler barely has any light on him. That gives him for of the assassin/stalker look. You would never see him coming in a dark ally
