Today I finally finished Dark Souls — it took me neary 82 hours over the course of more than a month! What an experience!This painting took a little less time, fortunately. Nice how both projects more or less got finished at the same time — so this is sort of my celebration.

A very fun game to play, though I'm having a few problems playing it (I got it on pc). The controls won't set themselves right on my controller, and it's really had to properly log in on Games for Windows Live. Though the one time I did get all the settings right, it was a lot of fun

What controller do you use? I found the X360 Controller works like a charm with most modern PC Games. I recommend buying one, it's really worth it.

Oh while I'm at it, I hope everyone on PC is using Durantes DSFix?! Makes the game run in high resolution and whatnot. Absolutely essential for the PC version! Get it at the link above!

Well, here's the thing: I was very unsatisfied with the game controls, but didn't really fancy spending much more cash on the game, so I bought some cheap knockoff brand controller, from the brand 'Speedlink'. I got it working the first time I plugged it in, but somehow, the last time I tried playing it again, the controls were switched, double- or not- binding some keys.
I guess I could try the mouse fix, but I'dd rather find a way to get my controller set up properly, to behave like a regular Xbox 360 controller.
Oh and as far as Durantes DSfix goes, somehow I can't even get that to work properly either, it minimizes my screen to 1/4 of my actual screen (with awesome resolution though

You have to diable Antialiasing in the Game's Options. (Read the Readme!)
Regarding the controller: I wanted to save money recently by buying a 10€ keyboard... and two months later half the keys don't work anymore. Don't save money on the wrong end

Oh right, the anti aliasing! I did read about that in the readme, but totally forgot about it again when fiddling with the settings. Next time I find myself some spare time, I'll give that a spin. Which won't be anytime soon.... University homework :c

Yay! I managed to fix most things by doing some extra troubleshooting on my own, only the DSfix doesn't really work for me yet, but I guess I can live without beautiful graphics. As long as I can play with at least proper button settings, It's all fine with me

Very nice! I'm about 30 hours into the game, and had to take a break once I got to the damn Tomb of the Giants, the darkness is annoying. Also, the part where you had to walk carefully on the beams in Anor Londo was also very infuriating. But I'm having a hell of a blast playing it.

There are a couple of ways to deal with the darkness easily. c: You can either get the lantern, use a spell or get a shining helmet. Since the lantern makes you sacrifice your shield, leaving you in the dark if you need to block, it's not really the ideal solution. The spell isn't the best way to go either, as you most likely won't be able to use it/or even have it unless you're a caster (and I sadly don't remember it's name either) - which leaves the helmet as the best option. It's called the Sunlight maggot helmet, if I still remember that right - and you can find it in the shortcut between the Lost Izalith and the chaos covenant firekeeper. When you go to the sortcut, you'll encounter several of the little sunlight maggots - if you kill them, one of them drops it. It's not a random drop, there's a certain one that always drops it. ^^

Yeah, I beat the game now, it's amazing. I grew fond of using Havel's armor set with his ring, Black Knight Halberd +5, and Cloranthy Ring with a lot of endurance so I can move around faster, I loved it. I also use Quelaag's Furysword a lot, too.

I recall you could get a lantern or something like that..? You had to equip it instead of a shield and it would illuminate the Tomb pretty nicely.

Seems to be knight body armor, crest shield, zweihander and the rest is from the elite knight set.

a million times yes. best game ive ever played. and ive played a lot of games. it is hard, at first. its a very complex game. take the time to understand the mechanics, experiment with new play styles and weapons, and check out the wiki often. it would suck to learn an amazing weapon was 3 checkpoints ago and you have to backtrack for it. plus, weapons have stat requirements. have a decent idea of what you want your endgame equipment to be so you will have the stats to use them. information in this game is the most valuable thing to have. if you learn enemies move sets you can take them out much easier, the same can be said for the more popular weapons in pvp. all it requires is patience and a keen eye. good luck
