Its been a long time since our last Monarch File, but with the return of to DA, we can finally introduce the next entry in this series of Legendary era Godzilla kaiju redesigns, and this time we have the King of Terror himself, King Ghidorah! >8D

I'm really happy with how this Ghidorah design turned out, it pays homage to several different incarnations of Ghidorah while also being its own unique design as well, and to me at least, feels like it would fit in naturally in the Legendary Godzilla film continuity. As much as I love the traditionally two legged and fan winged Ghidorah of the Toho films, I felt like a quadrupedal body stance would look and feel more natural for the Legendary era world setting, plus as cool as classic Ghidorah looks with his wings out spread, ya don't want your wings to be in harms way during a battle. I can easily picture this fanned Ghidorah trampling over city blocks and crushing tanks and other monsters underfoot, his armored scales protecting his wings from harm until its time to return to the skies or unleash a hurricane force wind attack on his enemies. As for the wing design itself, Bracey thought it would be interesting if rather than Ghidorah using his wings alone for powered flight, he actually relied on electromagnetism to get himself airborne and then uses his wings to propel himself onward, a different spin on his gravity beam attack from the Toho movies. Regardless, it all looks good . It will be interesting to see how similar or different the official Legendary Ghidorah will be in comparison to my fanned version when Godzilla II finally arrives, but I guess time will tell, and in the meantime, its fun to speculate, and I'm pretty pleased with how this version turned out.
