Description So I finally watched GvK. I tried avoiding seeing the movie early but recorded clips from other countries spoiled some scenes for me. It doesn't help that the title of the videos says what it is. I'm the type of person who will look/watch the spoilers since I'm too excited to resist. I did avoid watch it on HBO Max and waited to see it in theaters and it was worth the $63. Director Adam Wingard highly recommended to watch GvK in theaters first and I did and I'm glad I did along with 2 bros of mine (it was $17.49 per adult plus tax for dolby cinema hence the $63).
I really enjoyed the movie, especially with the big screen and surround speakers. It's my new favorite Monsterverse movie. I really enjoyed the kaiju/titans/monsters scenes, the fighting scenes, hollow earth adventure, and human scenes. I seen a mix of people saying the humans were either bad/boring or just enjoyable enough, I'm on the enjoyable enough side. I liked Jia the most since the actress did a good job for her 1st movie and enjoy the scenes that didn't have dialogue but sign and facial & body language. Unlike the previous movies which was mostly grounded in reality, this took a whole sci-fi fantasy approach which, while strange, is welcomed and full of imagination. Also the kaijus fight in daylight and beautiful neon lighting. If my eyes can have orgasms, it would. In my honest opinion, I thought Kong was gonna win because he's never been called King Kong, so I thought they were alluding to it but no Godzilla won which make sense since he has more advantages than Kong. I'm surprised Godzilla let Kong live considering his brutal executions on the MUTOs and King Ghidorah. Though outside the movie, killing Kong would be a very bad move on the creators part since that would piss off many people. Basically not making the same mistake as Jurassic Park 3 Spino kills T-rex. When Godzilla and Mechagodzilla fought, MechaG was beating Godzilla's ass and had the upper hand since Godzilla was exhausted and wounded from fighting Kong earlier. Makes me wonder how the fight would play out if Godzilla didn't fight Kong and at full strength. Speaking of MechaG, i love the design since it reminds me of the Terminator but still has Mechagodzilla elements. Love how it references, Mechagodzilla 1, Super Mechagodzilla 2 and Kiryu since it emerges from a mountain, gets its head ripped off, use parts of Ghidorah, and a cyborg that regains it's consciousness & goes berserk. Gotta love the teamup and Mortal Kombat fatality when Kong cut MechaG down with the axe and rip off the head like Sub-Zero. The ending was especially satisfying as Godzilla and Kong show respect each other and parted ways with Godzilla returning to the ocean, still King of the Monsters and Alpha Titan on the surface while Kong living in the hollow earth as the new ruler.
Now for the things I didn't like, I don't like how they did 2 human characters. Mark Russel (played by Kyle Chandler) wasn't in the movie much considering he's the head of Monarch now that Dr. Serizawa died and appointed as the new director. Speaking of Serizawa, I was really disappointed in Ren Serizawa (played by Shun Oguri) didn't feel that important. They could've just named him something else but they chose to share the same name as a major character in the previous Godzilla movies. He didn't have much to do and most likely died. So much potential wasted. They could've let him live and have a bigger role if they decided to make more Monsterverse movies. This is a nitpick but I wanted to see how the people got Kong onto the ship and flew him to Antarctica. Another nitpick is that i miss the slow, lumbering movements of the titans. It makes them feel gigantic and have weight. It was interesting that from the kaijus' pov & high angles, they move fast, but when at low angles from humans perspective, they're slow which makes them look and feel like titans. Though its a bit inconsistent since you do see them move fast from low angles in some scenes.
Overall, Godzilla VS Kong is great monster movie for fans to really enjoy and entertaining for general audiences. Its also a great movie to watch now that the pandemic is getting better and theaters are opening again. Highly recommended to watch it theaters if possible. I give this movie 9/10.

Yeah I was aware of that but I wouldve liked to see him more. He was my fav character (other than Serizawa) in KOTM because of his arc and development.
