If Goji and PacRim stay at Legendary for a while I'd like to hope some alternate reality reboot of some kind would make the scenario possible.

Massive stomp in Godzilla's favour. Maybe 2014 Godzilla can lose this, but the japanese versions cannot.

Do you really think that a kaiju that tank a meteor hitting him at pointblank would get killed by a squid-tailed doohickey?

If that movie had Gojira in it, they would have needed to build way less Jagers. One of the Kaiju shows up and Godzilla is all like, "This is my world bitch get your own!" and beats the crap out it. Meanwhile the aliens are all standing around going, "Are you serious! That like the ninth one he's killed this week. This is getting ridiculous!"

Correction, Slattern would have an advantage on both land and sea. For some reasons why:

1. Slattern survived a nuclear explosion TO THE FACE. Not only that, a nuclear explosion underwater is more deadly than on land. Since the explosion pushes gallons and gallons of water away, Slattern survived a nuclear explosion alongside a powerful blast of water. Something that most forms of Godzilla couldn't survive/regenerate quick enough. Someone said that only Final War Godzilla can survive something like that.

2. While Godzilla might be powerful, its reach is ridiculously small. Slattern in the other hand has a farther reach and can actually use its strength.

3. If you purchased the DLC for Pacific Rim: The Video Game, you might have noticed that Slattern's Fatal Assault move is a blast of atomized electricity. That way it can pick off Godzilla from a distance, and block Godzilla's lasers.

4. Slattern is agile, fast, and intelligent. Plus, it can actually knock Godzilla over with its massive tails.

You see? I think Godzilla has finally met its match. Godzilla is very impressive. But I have to say that Slattern might win.

KingOfHeroes1317 In reply to DALAIMALAI123 [2013-08-22 17:36:59 +0000 UTC]

Ignoring the Showa Era series of Godzilla who can pretty much make up powers like flight and magnetism randomly, I still say Heisei Era and up of Godzilla still have the advantage either way.

1. Surviving a nuclear explosion but still being heavily injured by it just shows how Slattern's durability isn't actually as good as Godzilla's. In Godzilla vs King Ghidorah, the same thing happened to Godzilla underwater and yet all it did was make him stronger and larger. Hell, Heisei era Godzilla tanked a volcanic eruption while inside said Volcano and emerged unharmed. Volcanic eruptions can approach or even surpass nuclear explosions. Or surviving a meteor impact that level an entire area of a city leaving no

2. Farther reach in comparison to what exactly? Ranged attacks make it a moot point.

3. You're going to have to provide feats of how strong that electrical attack is considering Godzilla's atomic rays have concussive force to blast other monsters massive amount of distances and explosions that rival nuclear weapons even before the upgraded spiral ray.

4. Slattern is agile, fast, and intelligent? So are many of Godzilla's opponents and they've actually shown sentience. Many of the flying monsters like Rodan or Kamacuras have shown supersonic movement after all. The idea that Slattern is bigger is false.  While Slattern is indeed more voluminous, even the smallest version of Godzilla weighs in at 20,000 metric tons while Slattern is at 6,750 tons (and the rest of the Pacific Rim cast at far less than even that). They essentially would be classified  as featherweight; big, but effectively made of styrofoam. The fact that Heisei Era and up Godzilla can lift things nearly double his weight like King Ghidorah at 70 000 tons and fling him away just shows the difference in physical capabilities.

Based on actual feats, there isn't much that Slattern has done that hasn't been replicated or surpassed by other monsters in the Godzilla series.

Ah... I'm a idiot for not looking deeper into my research...

... I'm just wondering, but one of the Godzillas actually allied itself with other monsters, right? (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

Well, Slattern can also call for help from other Kaiju (as seen in the movie).

Sorry, I have forgotten about the fact that Godzilla's enemies also had the same factors as Slattern, and that Godzilla IS AN EXTREME HEAVYWEIGHT.

Still, Slattern is a really powerful beast. Probably not as powerful as Godzilla, but still darn powerful.

(I wonder how a Jaeger will fare against Godzilla...)

KingOfHeroes1317 In reply to DALAIMALAI123 [2013-08-26 07:39:31 +0000 UTC]

Godzilla allied rarely starting with the Heisei period. Though, Rodan's sacrifice when Godzilla actually first got killed by Super Mechagodzilla pretty much upgraded him with the Spiral Ray that was used to pretty much stomp every other monster in future movies.

Jaeger's use blunt force and energy weapons will be pretty much useless against Godzilla. I'd say Crimson Typhoon has the best chance with its rotating saw blades, but I doubt they'd be as effective as Gigan's gigantic buzzsaw on its belly. It'll have to attack Godzilla over and over again before its regeneration could kick in with the disadvantage that one solid blow from Godzilla might end it.

Just saying, but... Godzilla will have a clear advantage on land. But mostly since we didn't see Slattern fight on land. But when submerged... We all know how fast Slattern is underwater. Godzilla doesn't seem well suited for an underwater battle. So it all depends on where they're fighting!

Interestingly that's what a lot of people say about Titanosaurus, too, that Goji wouldn't have stood a chance if it had been in the water and the fighting situation had been different.  makes for fun speculation.

Can't help thinking that any beastie who spends his downtime snoozing on the ocean floor might not be thrown too far off-balance by slightly more specialized aquatic foes. Tito's whirlpool trick might get annoying after a while, but doesn't strike me as anything a heatray couldn't solve.

So far as PR goes, if the 'Rimmies' have such an incremental progression of kaiju-categories & timetable for spacing out their incursions, not at all sure they boast the resources or 'production' speed to whip up a Godzilla-slayer on the spot. Especially once he assembled the Ogasawara crew & tailed the next batch of attackers home. Spec be amusing indeed.

DALAIMALAI123 In reply to KaijuKid [2013-08-02 09:49:10 +0000 UTC]

True. Besides, if Slattern gets taken down, the Kaiju Masters can always create a bigger, badder, and more powerful Kaiju to take its place. Maybe even with 'adaptions' and 'upgrades' to retaliate/use Gojira's attacks against it. Because we all know that the Precursors (or whatever they're called) can gather information via the Kaiju, similar to the scene where Leatherback was circling the Striker Eureka after it was disabled. Or during the entire movie in general.

But he can shrug off an atomic bomb to the face and stab with his tails at supersonic speeds. And he has a electrical beam.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SethHM In reply to vatarianart [2013-08-05 18:47:41 +0000 UTC]

Good point. But since when does Slatts have an electrical beam? Also, Goji has shrugged off a black hole, so I think he'd survive Slattern.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

vatarianart In reply to SethHM [2013-08-05 22:02:38 +0000 UTC]

In PR the game, it's a supermove. Technically canon since it's by the same people who did the movie. And that blackhole thing I hear people boasting about is B.S. Not because Gojira couldn't survive it, because he couldn't, but because it's physically impossible to contain or fire a blackhole. Maybe a bit of superdense matter, but not a blackhole. It's not just unrealistic, it defies every law of everything in the book. And as far as I know, the projectile didn't actually hit him. It hit the hillside next to him and demolished it. If it'd been a blackhole, it would have sucked up the entire planet, or exploded with the force of about twenty atomic bombs, killing big G either way.

ADAMantium91 In reply to vatarianart [2013-08-18 20:08:43 +0000 UTC]

The problem with this is that we have no idea if Slattern's "supermove" is canon. It was never displayed in the movie.

vatarianart In reply to SethHM [2013-12-02 00:24:00 +0000 UTC]

Comparing the amount of electricity Slattern produces for that attack to lightning is like comparing Zilla to Godzilla.

Not saying King-G couldn't beat him of course. But it'd b a good, long fight.
