Wanted to do this one for the sheer fun of it, and partially because I follow a message board where a certain segment of the kaiju "fandom" has done nothing for the last couple of years but complain about how much they hate anything Toho's done since Shin, including the anime. Opinions are fine, tastes are tastes, but I do find it pretty obnoxious to act like either Shin or the anime are the worst things ever, because they're really objectively not.
So for funsies I wondered what would Shin have been like if, instead of directing a live movie, Anno had just gone and made it an anime, his main ballpark of experience? Well, this is just my idea of it, but I imagine it would have managed to be even weirder than the live movie had been

Yep, watched the leaked video and saw their fun Ghidorah design. I've always been a fan of crossovers but sadly I won't be heading to Japan again anytime soon XD I'm not an Evangelion fan either (watched the show but never liked it enough to have it in my collection), but I appreciate a lot of Anno's visionary style.

You know, this is actually the first time we see Shin Godzilla fight another giant monster (Eva Unit-01 and King Ghidorah).
Also, Shin Godzilla now has his own Ghidorah to battle (just as every version of Godzilla has one).

I wish the Ghidorah was affordable in toy form but unfortunately because it's such an exclusive with the ride it easily gets over $100 and that's just more than I want to pay for a Ghidorah that's not in any official movie installment right now

And heck, Shin is actually pretty good
Sometimes I fear that all the "vs" movies have spoiled the fandom to where they just can't stand Big G flying solo...

I'm not the biggest fan of the standalones, but I appreciate the intent behind each of trying to give the Big G the spotlight without any interference. My motto has always been "Appreciate each film, because you never know which one will be the last".

Thanks, I do hope Toho tries another G anime someday beyond the Monster Planet series, it'd be nice to see them try again and maybe go more old school.

I think shin Godzilla looks really in anime version especially when he was shown in the shin chan series. It would be really awesome to him in a anime movie.

And for a truly bizarre ending we cut to Ken Kubo and Tanaka striking the smoldering remains of a miniatures set in a garage and going out for a wrap party with their cast and crew of otaku from Giant-X. “We’re in the big leagues now! Toho gave the kings of garage video their chance to shine. To the Big Guy!” *cut to credits and bouncy pop song about Tokusatsu creature features while the audience goes to the ER to be treated for a case of mood whiplash*

I’m pretty sure if Shin was the anime it would’ve been more interesting where they explored the evolution part of him more where hundreds of horrifying abominations spawned from him and slowly extincted humanity down to a few hundred.
sort of like A quiet place but more logical and where you can hide no matter what you do, where the monsters succeed in killing humanity. (or assimilating the last few survivors if they choose to)

Looks kind of like if Godzilla was in Evangelion. But other than that, looks great. I like how Godzilla looks here.

while I'm not the biggest fan of Shin G and I was a bit disappointed with the two anime films but I don't hate them with burning passion like the more obnoxious fans (seriously there are fans of Shin G who bash on G'14 clam just because it's made by Toho it's automatically better)
