Description
Another concept for"Big Foot, The Lochness Monster, Ogopogo, called cryptids during the age of man, these are creatures who's existence could never be proven, despite many reports of the beasts having been seen. The future world of The Black Paw isn't without it's own cryptids, and one of the more famous creatures in Salvatica is the immense condor known as The Gryphus. Though a specimen of this creature has never been acquired by Salvaticans, or even Felonians during the time of Felonian occupation, they've been sighted by both peoples, and are considered real by most Salvaticans. Exeter, King Monarch The First sighted a Gryphus when he and Patterson began their famous march on Eastern Salvatica during the revolution. It's this sighting that leads the people of Salvatica to believe so strongly in it. They site the reason for a specimen not turning up as being due to it's habitat: The Endless Forest. Also known as The Cursed Wood, no one who's ventured into the forest has ever been heard from again, and this includes Felonian explorers using state of the art equipment and vehicles as well. By day the forest is shrouded in a fog of mist that causes bizarre electro magnetic interference, blocking out most means of communication. By night, the foliage and overhanging branches are so thick that there's zero visibility. Night vision goggles, flares, and even satellite imagery has given Felonia the greatest understanding of the forest, but in all, even their advanced technology hasn't been able to break the curse. No Felonian has ever made it out of the forest, and if they did, they didn't report what they saw. The Endless Forest of Salvatica and it's giant Gryphus remain a popular source of intrigue and mystery in present day Felonia, but due to the lack of data, and the fact that Gryphus sightings are often reported alongside sightings of other bizarre phenomena and cryptids such as moving trees that talk, man eating flowers, and the tailless, ape like Forest Dwellers, Felonian zoologists dismiss the birds as mere myth. Everyone knows that all birds live at Altion, and no one from Altion has ever claimed to have seen a Gryphus."

Pretty interesting giant condor creature. Not sure of the scale of the creature, but Gryphus looks like it could be pretty intimidating. Nice picture you are painting of the world of this story as well, along with the Endless Forest itself.
