Vampire things (nope, I'm not the fan of vampires)

Here on this painting the vampire creation happens purely by rage and magical energy WITHOUT any Rice-style horny interaction with corpses.
Mostly in "women's literature", vampires are the fanged prince charmings of lonely housewives' fantasies, shown as lustful and romantic creatures longing for a relationship, usually with a mortal person. The popularity of this stuff made the word vampire associated with the stereotype of the always horny Mr. Soppiness characters from those books and vampires rarely considered as wicked evil creatures.
Legacy of Kain is a fine exception from this with a swordfighter warrior in the leading role, not Lustat. Creating a vampire is pure cruelty and torment.
Just because Anne Rice or Stephanie Meyer etc women's fiction-writer are popular, it does not means ALL vampires act and behave like the characters do in their stories.

thanks for the to anyone who like it

Yeah the cliche "romantic" version is over used and annoying. I like your way much better!

That's exactly why I don't like vampire stuff in general, they're always about romances and relationships. Legacy of Kain is the only exception so far with it's real evil fantasy content

I know which is sad. I had always thought that Kain would have raised them magically anyway with or without contact with their bodies to reanimate them, but not in any "romantic" or sexual way. I mean this is Kain, he in no way is romantic or any thing of the like. He is more the kill now ask questions later, unless that person has the answers.

when you said kain raised his lieutenants with pain and anger - you really ment it! just LOOK at kain's FACE!! he looks constipated
kain: *strides in (like the blood-sucking evil hunk that he is)*
myyrrhn: *disemboweled and decapitated in ONE move (because kain's awesome)*
kain: *strrriiiidddess ou-* oh, ick *wipes foot against floor to remove intestines*

Yes, that's the only way I can imagine him. A guy like him feels good when being enraged and slashing around his sword. I guess he raised his own enemies only to make use of them, surely not out of fatherly feelings (unless he was on drugs ) Guess even the thought of sharing power is a nightmare to a power-maniac like him, and it surely pissed him off to waste his own strength and powers on other people
Hmm disemboweled and decapitated with only one move? How he did that? And that goes with a lot of blood splattering, he need to look for another dinner
And he even stepped in it

After seeing this many times, I noticed that you put the broken ankh of the sarafan on the coffins...

I always imagined that to be the symbol of strictly the new Sarafan in BO2. Do you think Steve Ross (art director) intended the broken ankh to always have been the sarafan symbol?

The imagery in the games changes all the time, but the Sarafan crest stayed the same from SR2 into Defiance (Possibly because they were produced in a fairly narrow time, unlike other chapters). This is the reason I felt I should point this out.

KainTheVampireLord In reply to The-Vile-Cortex [2010-10-05 15:06:12 +0000 UTC]

Yes, even if I depicted a scene from the SR1 era, I don't care much with it's original environment and character design, I'm depicting Kain with his BO2 appearance, and I found the BO2 sarafan way more fanatical and evil than the earlier generation.
I think the same, the BO2 Sarafan are a new generation, their previous order was commanded by Moebius and they had the hourglass as their symbol, but Sarafan in BO2 are the Hylden Lord's fanatical army of humans, they were quite reminiscent to the nazis while Moebius's Sarafan rather looked like average medieval fortress guards.
SR2 and Defiance all played in Moebius's era (Defiance actually takes place in the same time when SR2 ended, and also at BO1's era from Raziel's part right after Kain's first manipulating with time), while BO2 is a new era and a new timeline. BO2 was produced between SR2 and Defiance, so they could have used the same concept, but I'm glad they made BO2 different.

Nope, I didn't painted him doing that, Malek was surely a pain in the ass opponent to Kain, I think he rather loves to see his coffin sealed and digged deep enough.

The way I heard he did it is but taking his own soul and putting it in there bodies and a it would call to there souls to return to there own bodies and then give them his energy. grt stuff.

Thank you! And I'm glad you like the rant too
Vampires are usually depicted as some mushy oversensitive romantic people as the influence of vampire books by female authors, even Legacy of Kain vampires are usually shown as they were from the Queen of the Damned movie, so I made of this painting to show there are other ways for a vampire to raise minions than huggling and kissing, you said right, Legacy of Kain is rather brutal and cruel than emotional

Arkeresia In reply to KainTheVampireLord [2010-07-10 17:35:49 +0000 UTC]

It was an awesome rant!!! Yes, yes, absolutely. LoK really shows a more complex and divine angle on the whole vampire thing, really gives it a deep meaning rather than just crappy fangirl-attracting over emotional cack

Thank you so much! I like vampires that are warriors and swordfighters, I don't like the ordinary vampire cliches either being always so lustful and feminine "dark lovers", sleeping in coffins and such. I'm glad you like the warrior types too

Leptospyrra In reply to KainTheVampireLord [2010-06-07 10:01:25 +0000 UTC]

Somehow the time of those, dark vampires passed a long time ago. They're kinda obscure and boring. Warrior vampires have that future of aether logical idea of vampires, or it is pretty much more acceptable for artistic and creative public. It was my pleasure

KainTheVampireLord In reply to Leptospyrra [2010-06-07 17:27:46 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Yes, Dracula was scary at the time of Bram Stoker's, but he appears quite a cliche evil for today's people, and the modern "dark lover" type of vampires are rather something exotic characters in romance books for those who like them, but I don't feel them being really vampires.
Warrior vampires are the best ones, they're not only cool, but having higher purposes than stalking in the night and sleeping in coffins. I like vampires without the classic vampiric weaknesses too such as burning on sunlight, scared of garlic and holy items.

Leptospyrra In reply to KainTheVampireLord [2010-06-11 09:38:57 +0000 UTC]

Yes, for romance and like inspiration to these goth, black and Gothic bands they seem ok. But in visual arts they are a bit obscure. Besides, something so dangerous seems pretty embarrassed by putting it in coffin and making him something as lustful and sleepy lover

I tend to picture their resurrection as similar to the way Emhotep regenerated in the Mummy movies, but without a victim sacrificed.

KainTheVampireLord In reply to jmsnooks [2010-03-28 17:07:00 +0000 UTC]

I have seen the Mummy movies years ago, but completely forgot about their details (all I remember he stolen bodyparts of the victims)
I always hated the lustful way of vampire creations, there are a lot in Anne Rice's and others stuff, and made me feel repulsed to see this form of creation forced on LoK characters (fo example Kain raping or caressing Raziel ) this is just a bullcrap, no ways a merciless warrior would act like a sissy from women's books.
Knowing Kain, using his powers, magic and anger is what I can imagine about raising vampires.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jmsnooks In reply to KainTheVampireLord [2010-03-29 00:26:54 +0000 UTC]

It all has to do with the sissification of western society as a whole and the slide towards sexual perversion. When my parents were young you didn't hear all kinds of talk about people being gay, but now it's all over the place. My mom thinks that there's something in the water which makes people more gay these days. I can't understand gay fantasies. I can sort of understand sexual fantasies because the idea is to live vicariously through the character, but what's the point in gay fantasies? Can't live vicariously through a gay fantasy.

KainTheVampireLord In reply to jmsnooks [2010-04-08 08:57:10 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps all this shit that's flushed down into the water from chemicals to antibaby pills that causing people go insane and unnatural. I don't understand women fantasizing about girl-looking guys, or finding gay relationships sexy, when a guy is acting like a girl is not sexy, and gay men won't give a pleasure to women anyways. Sexual fantasies are healthy at a certain level, but participating as a peeker third one watching man and man sexual intercourse in a fantasy dream is beyond my understanding why the hell is it good. I also think these girls/women having fantasies like that have a zero level life experience, having no knowledge of the opposite sex or relationships, they see the world the way they fantasized it based on the stuff they gathered from childhood fairy tales and tv-shows.

jmsnooks In reply to KainTheVampireLord [2010-04-14 01:23:40 +0000 UTC]

Yes, the chemicals in the water from those things, but probably the chemicals in the food also (like steroids and pesticides).

Right, fantasizing about yourself as a 3rd party observer is a special kind of pathetic, and a gay man isn't going to pleasure them in any way.

Hehe photoing by natural light is the key for a good shot, looks always sharper, and the colours are more intense than by indoor lights

Oh wow!
You're right! The greatest things about Kainy are: 1.feeding from a distance, where you can see the fountain of blood from the victim; 2. swinging his sword around which makes a sound in the air as if it weighs at least 50kg (in Def), not to mention the sound it makes when it hits the victim; 3.constantly spouting arrogant stuff.
Don't you dare besmirch him with unnatural relationships, people!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KainTheVampireLord In reply to prasetu [2010-03-28 17:23:34 +0000 UTC]

Haha not to mention his very nice variety of killing moves, I so like him smashing the swords handles into the victim's faces, or smashing their balls (kicking their asses when they're crawling on the ground is nice too ) His high level of arrogance is great too. Shame when "fans" depicting him as some sort of lame pussy, or a lame Prince Charming who's deadly in love with their mary-sue fancharacters. He doesn't love anyone, those people who don't like this can go and play SIMS, or watch Tardlight.
