there are some people who always thinks that you can live without your art supplies(art in general) and move on without it, because to them; art isn't a career where you would get tons of money out of it in the end, WRONG.
People always thinks that, by doing something else besides ART, you have a life of worth doing something. Can I tell you folks that, I CAN'T live without art? art is an education were you'd possibly get the most of the payment than anything else as a job. without art in general, how would you get all the fancy technology and measurements to HELP you on your job? Explain that folks, GOD GAVE US THIS TELNT TO HELP YOU! or as I normally say ti to people, we have the hand's of God of making creations in Life.
Now i don't think that this stamp has much relativeness towards what I typed here, but it shows that we artists can't seem to live without having to draw; it's like people who can't seem to live without drugs or cigarretts, except being addicted to art is much better than the bad things lol.

My tablet and scanner have each broken at least once, and it made me more sad than it should have.

lol i agree.. when my computer was broken, i cried
and when mom throws my art stuff i got angry like exploding volcano..
i even told my mom that "if you want me to stop drawing, just kill me instead" LOL

It's a good speech. In short, it's about how schools still believe on the old concept of preparing students for day-to-day work (like in a factory or an office), not innovative thinking.
Art goes with science. It's one of the things that makes people creative in the first place. Discovery Channel documentaries even talk about how cool sports cars from companies like Ferrari and Porsche start from simple drawings and paintings, not technical drawing boards.
So, if the people around you say art is nonsense, ignore them: they're still thinking in the old-fashioned way. =)

Completely agree with everything you say. I've been having awful art block for months now, and it's driving me insane. I want to draw sooo friggin' badly but I can't. I've cried over it many a time. *sigh*

Oh dear God I agree with this all the way! I've been tolf by my own dad to get art out of my life, that how can art possibly fed me? He said it in a way that sounded as if art actually was nothing. WRONG! If I stop drawing, I stop living. It's hard doing other hobbies when you're so pack-jammed with ideas you wanna draw. I understand some people say do something more than just draw, but it's impossible! The side of my middle finger hurts so bad of how much I draw!
