Description
won a little contest so this time I want to show the French poster from the Great War...I used the French battlecry during the "Mincing Machine of Verdun" as the soldiers used to call that bloody carnage..."Ils ne passeront pas!" which means "They shall not pass!"...It's not hard to see that this poster is different from the previous ones...I really missed the background in them so this time I've prepared something like this...Enjoy

Nicely detailed and shaded. I really like the character work and setting. Very good style and fine ambiance.

well.. French casualties were higher but the Germans didn't capture Verdun-the main point of French defence- so they didn't manage to break the front and defeat France...the German plan to bleed French army to death also collapsed...German losses were alarmingly high too

Love the idea and I remember Ils Ne Passeront Pass (if I remember correct that's in... no it wasn't, in Mort-Homme memorial it says Ils Nont Pas Passe).
I'm little confused by your French equipment thought... In case you plan drawing more Frenchies, I suggest you take a look at these links;here and here or simply use Google

thanks ...well but remember that's supposed to be a propaganda poster so realism is not so important in such case
...usually I check everything(or almost) before I start drawing

I don't doubt that, I like your illustrations Although I have found most of the propaganda posters of the time quite realistic by the gear, maybe the portrayed actions have been different from the realism.
This one by the way reminded me very much of this famous poster . I assume you had some influence by it. Of course your's is unique and doesn't resemble this one, but the spirit is the same
