Description
I get a lot of questions about how I get my lineart to come out looking so professional looking. As promised, I finally got around to doing a tutorial on how I ink. =3 It's not the most complicated way to do lineart in the world, but it works for me. <33Finished picture used in this tutorial:

It follows a lot of the same techniques, only it's a different program. <3

What brush do you use (a standard brush or a different one)? Yours looks like it would fade out at the end and when I set everything like you did, mine doesn't look like that...
And how do you get the lines this smooth? Mine are always scrawly...
I just discoverd that I have this program and it's quite different to GIMP. Is there a tool that's similar to the path-tool?
I hope you can help me

Nope, I use a standard hard, round brush. One of Photoshop's presets so it's nothing special. c: The fading is probably thanks to my tablet. It has pen pressure so it makes it look like I'm drawing with a pencil.
There's a lineart tutorial I did that under the "Other" section of my gallery that shows how I go about inking. Basically, I double the size of my file and zoom in really close before I ink. Then, when I return the picture to it's original size, the lines look crisp and smoothe. <3
There's the pen-tool in Photoshop that might be similar to the path tool. My version of PS doesn't have it so I haven't used that particular tool but it sounds like it might be close. x3

do you know the name of the brush stroke you use?
I have PS 8 now (yay installation with tablet) and i can't find it the way you probably do with PS 5
Is it a download brush? Just wondering thanks

KaiserTiger In reply to RatsNScraps [2011-09-04 05:17:02 +0000 UTC]
I use a standard round/hard brush around 4-5 pixels wide. It's the basic brush most PS programs have set on default, so I know you've got it. xD PS 8 shouldn't be too different from my PSE 5.0 but I really wouldn't know since I've never used that version.

Yay, Im not the only one who just traces my lines xD
Ive seen so many other ways that just sound complicated and to many steps and buttons.
Just tracing the lines is so much easier.

xD I know! I've tried using a lot of the fancy tools other people use but I always go back to simply tracing my lines with the brush tool in PS. Soooo much easier!

How can I reset my photoshop settings? Because it won't let me resize the picture the EXACT way I want it!

KaiserTiger In reply to PhantasselArt [2011-06-08 20:30:21 +0000 UTC]
D: I dunno. I've never had my Photoshop do that. Normally closing the program and restarting it will reset most settings for me though.

I usually start with a 2000x2000 pixel canvas and sketch with a 3 pixel sized brush. c:

When I went to resize the image, I clicked all the boxes as in the picture, but after I filled in the Image Size, when I changed the numbers in the Document Size, the Image size numbers and the resolution both changed? Do you know how to stop them doing this? (I think that made sense...)

KaiserTiger In reply to Acacion [2011-01-25 18:20:52 +0000 UTC]
I'm not sure why that's happening. I've never really had that problem myself so I can't really tell you how to make it stop.
It may have something to do with a setting though. Maybe try unchecking a few of the bottom boxes below and play around with it?

Awesome tutorial, the lineart does come out much cleaner when I use this method, thank you
I was wondering, how exactly do you color in your art? I've been trying to find easier ways to fill lineart in without simply using the brush tool to color it in by hand, but I can't find anything.

KaiserTiger In reply to Kulchir [2011-01-24 02:04:40 +0000 UTC]
;3 Glad it could help. <3
I usually color by hand with the brush tool. xD I feel like I have more control over where my colors go and stuff like that. But if I find a quicker way to color, I'll be sure to make a tutorial for it.

This is really helpful! But quick question: How do you get your brush all...wavy (best way to describe it...) Mine is just a circle; it doesn't get thicker or thinner as you draw. >.<

KaiserTiger In reply to Neko-October [2010-11-21 23:22:45 +0000 UTC]
Thanks.
Oh, that only appears if you have a tablet connected to your computer. Otherwise, it'll just appear as a round circle. ^^
