Description
Fucking love fountain pens -- unlike those nasty markers they don't bleed through the paper, and you have so much control over the thickness of the lines! Drawing under an angle makes the lines sharp, drawing directly makes thick lines. Easy to handle so useful for both drawing and writing.

The lineart of this was finished about 2 months ago; then I colored it, and it turned out bad. Light's hair was far too red! So a week ago, I colored it again, this time adding more yellows and darker browns to Light's hair to even out the redness. Then I added some rosy color to Light's cheeks and hands, to make his skin color stand out against L's paler skin.
And oh! I had so much trouble with L's hair. The lineart was a hassle, but the toughest part was coloring it. Trying to make it as black as can be, and yet to give it texture.

In the end, I'm very happy with how this turned out. I thought it would go wrong with the inking (like these things usually do -- at the very last minute something goes wrong): that my hand would slip, or that I'd smudge the lines with the palm of my hand before they got a chance to dry, or that I'd make the lines too thick in the wrong places. But in the end, it all worked out fine!! better than expected, at least. I know the anatomy of this is a bit off, but during the lineart stages I just thought -- fuck it, it can only go downhill from here.

Most of all, I'm happy with Light Yagami's face. This is the first time I managed to draw Yagami properly. Yagami has a very complicated face, it looks boyish: unmistakably male, but so very feminine as well. It's tough to make him look girly without turning him into a girl. And that nose! Had so much trouble with it. By comparison, L's nose is much easier to draw. So this is the closest I ever got to getting Light right
