Forgive the lack of a decent backdrop.I was the BLU Pyro at this passing AN (Anime North 09) and I thought I'd finally get my ass in gear and post some pictures of my flamethrower.
The strap is to adhere to convention policy. I understand it's not there in game but I wanted to be able to have this for photo shoots and without a strap it would have been banned.
This thing is roughly as tall as me so it would be to scale. (I'm 5'7" or so)
Materials:
Propane tank (emptied and de-pressurized)
Various widths of PVC pipe
Sheet aluminum
Strap clamps to hold everything in place
Propane torch tip
...I think that's everything.
It's not as finished as I'd like it to be, and some details aren't perfect but I guess that's understandable for a prop made in a week. I'll try to finish it up by Halloween. (If I don't get distracted by any other projects)

I've been meaning to improve on certain things like the muzzle flash on the propane tank and the gas pump, so hopefully it will look much better soon!

It's pretty heavy as far as props go; it weighs about 15 to 20 pounds. I'm going to see what I can do about making it lighter for next year/Halloween.

It's a part of the weapon policy. "All props need to be slug, sheathed or holstered in an approved fashion."
I think they want to make sure people aren't walking around and accidentally (or not) hitting people with their large, unwieldy props. The thing weighs around 20 lbs so I was glad to have it on my back rather than carrying it around all day anyways.

Thank you. We were trying to make them as accurate as possible. I'll probably be pyro again next year, and Kristian is going to be medic. And with any luck you'll be able to join us for next year <3
