Description Ycalla is pretty much the first piece of the Kaleidoscope world that I thought of, back when I was about 15 years old.
She's an organic spaceship who is hanging out at one of the planets in this setting. There, she meets and befriends a local girl with whom she will travel to the rest of that solar system and, of course, get into adventures.

Practically the whole Kaleidoscope project evolved from that simple "a girl and her pet spaceship" premise. Over the years, I've been having fun inventing, scrapping and re-inventing the world around them - even when the daily grind of the university prevented me from working on this, that world was always in the back of my mind.
In my current concept, Ycalla and her friend still play an important role in the overall story, but several people they encounter have grown into additional protagonists who contribute their own point of view of the events.

This particular model of Ycalla was made from papier-mâché during my first semester at the university, around Christmas 2006. (Fun fact: I used the notes and work sheets from my school years that were no longer needed - and I was VERY tempted to also use that thick bundle of boring papers that I had to read for a tangentially-related-yet-compulsory lecture at that time...)
After the papier-mâché had dried, I painted her with several layers of acrylic paint. I also used nail polish for the eyes to give them a bit of an iridescent shine.
