Description Here is a short animation clip for a surface to orbit freighter. Basically its a small ship which carries a single Freight Crate() from the surface of the planet to a capital ship in orbit or a space station or other space construct. This is probably the most detailed thing I've ever done if only I could texture it properly. But that'll be a lesson for another day.

Thanks for viewing.

Done in Google Sketchup over the course of around 5 hours... I think. I really need to learn real 3D modeling.

personally I'd have preferred to put this in 3d art as that's what it is, but apparently flash files aren't allowed there, I guess I could have done a GIF but this is smoother.

Google sketchup? I worked with that once for a class, a long time ago and I found it hard to use. Pro-d is old, but it's good for basic 3d work. 3D Studio Max is really nice. Did you make this ship for fun?

Really you found it hard to use? Hmm, I find stuff like 3ds max hard to use, but then again I started in Gmax(that's a lie actually, I started with pen and paper and used flash to 'ink' them before colouring them in). I make these ships pretty well for fun, I think each one gets a little more complicated as I go. I'm currently working on a capital ship which so far is pretty detailed. 3ds I guess is super powerful and sketch up not so much. I used Blender for a little bit but I seem to remember having a problem with it, or was that milk shape? Ahh well that doesn't matter. Most of the ships I make fit into my Spec/TerraVista/nightwatch stories.

Wow! Which program are you using? Is not flash you say.

I try to make 3d effects with Flash but is very difficult.

I'm actually using Google Sketchup (Free Version). You can't do much with it, but its good for simple 3d models. To get it in flash I just imported a video of my animation so i didn't actually do anything in flash with it. Yes 3d effects in flash are quite difficult, I know there are program available on the internet that let you edit flash files as 3d objects, but I don't know of any off hand that are free. Good luck and thanks for dropping by.
