Chapter II - Extra Image

After the tremors passed and the worst of the panic was over, Yan and Wes huddled together to device a plan. All around them, they could see people speeding up and jumping - or in some cases, flying - over the fissure. Since the situation was so dire and there was no telling if and when the ground might open more (or again), they would have to hurry as well. On the other side it seemed that the ground was level enough to actually put their camp together and catch some sleep, finally. The horses were tired, they were tired, but one thing stood before them and it was scaring the wits out of Wes.

Lina and Thora had calmed down after the shock and now seemed both sweaty and annoyed, ready for their rest. The riders shared a gaze, nodding to each other - a wordless connection has started to form between them as they looked at the gap between them and safety, which might grow larger if they keep sitting around.
"So, jumping." Wes started, turning his head towards the gap and safety behind it, even though the gap looked like it was endless and they could hear whispers around them. Had someone fallen in? I think I saw someone die. The more they heard, the faster they wanted out of the wrong side.
"You gotta think about it like a water jump. We take a good, strong canter and to the fissure, keep looking at the other side and follow in suite of others so the horses don't start thinking about refusing. Just don't look down and keep your mind on Ryan." Yan deviced their plan, to which Wes answered with a silent nod. It had been a while since had done any jumping, let alone a "water" jump over a terrible fissure that was full of death and doom, at least in his mind. In truth, it was dark void, and the cloudy night wasn't helping anything.

"I g-guess we should just do it. Like a water jump. Over an endless hole in the ground." Wes voiced his fear, but dídn't felt any better over it. He took Lina's reins in hands and asked her forward, through a quick trot into a canter and did couple circles as Yan joined him. The younger man looked over at him, giving him a small smile and a nod. "Just follow me, and don't look down." Yan tightened Thora's reins, and started riding towards the fissure in a collected, powerful canter and Wes followed in suite, feeling a panic attack nipping at his heels so he stayed against Lina, urging her forwards as he took a point in front of them to look at as they forwarded. He didn't know at what point he had stopped breathing, finding himself taking a deep breath when he felt Linas feet rise and himself automatically giving her more rein.

The two riders were just a part of many jumping over the fissure, welcomed on the other side by happy, relieved faces of other riders, as well the Queen in the distance. After they touched the ground, he realized Yan was holding one of his arms against his chest and looking more miserable. How he hadn't noticed that? The german really could keep a pokerface when needed, probably knowing Wes couldn't handle it on the other side, with panic right around the corner. Wes quickly gathered Linas reins, turning her around and abruptly stopping Thora's hissyfit by grabbing her reins and looking at Yan with a worried look.

"You hurt yourself in the hassle, didn't you. We need to get you somewhere... quiet and I can help. Okay? It's the least I can do, in this situation. This is not up for discussion." He kept a stern voice when he saw the doubt on Yans face, pulling his mares reins over her head and turning Lina the other way, away from the fissure and towards the edge of their resting place. "I know thing or two about healing. Just trust me." He gave an encouraging smile to Yan, feeling his own panic subside as he had other things to think about now, such as helping his friend. Wes wasn't at his fullest in this place, the traveling and constant worrying eating at his insides, but he would do this. He could help Yan, and maybe tell him the truth.
