Description
Template by Taiko554After who knows how many months of me not getting this done, he's finally done! The Phantom Theif powered by the mysterious Taroz Cards, Kamen Rider Taroz is here. Utilizing the Taroz-Driver alongside these mystical cards allows him to perform stunning superhuman feats that no ordinary thief could even dream of attempting. Pictured here is his Default Form, his "Base Form," his Driver, the Teroz Deckbox, and a selection of Teroz Cards (as well as an example of what they look like on the back).
In the little headcanon that's been stewing about in my head for this guy, he uses a mix of Major Arcana and Minor Arcana Tarot cards. Major Arcana Cards are exclusively for accessing different forms and transformations, while Minor Arcana Cards are responsible for a variety of other abilities. And each Suit of Minor Arcana cards is associated with an elemental power and one (or more) Major Arcana cards. For example, the Diamond Suit is Light Elemental and is associated with the "The Fool" Major Arcana (as well as a few others, I haven't gotten that far yet). Hence why you see a series of cards here pictured alongside Taroz. Now, I never really thought up any abilities for cards 2-10, as I felt they'd be very gimmicky little abilities like Wizard's many spell rings. Stretchy arms, small energy shields, the works. But in each Suit of Minor Arcanas, as to be expected, there are four cards that stand out above the others. The Ace, King, Queen, and Jack cards all serve some greater function. The Ace Cards are always used to activate finishing attacks, King Cards summon the current form's weapon (which is dictated by the current Major Arcana Form, not the King Card itself), and then Queen and Jack are used for two very specific and powerful abilities that are specifically tied to the Suit's element.
The five cards you see here from top to bottom are:
-- Major Arcana: The Fool (Henshin Card),
-- Minor Arcana: Ace of Diamonds (Finisher Card),
-- Minor Arcana: King of Diamonds (Summons his weapon),
-- Minor Arcana: Queen of Diamonds (can be used to create a giant flash of light, or a series of simple illusions. Tricks of the light, and all),
-- Minor Arcana: Jack of Diamonds (temporarily grants ghost-like abilities, such as levitation and the ability to phase through solid objects.)
As I complete more forms/Riders for this project, I'll eventually go into what all of the other Minor Arcana Suites do and what their elements are. But for now, Taroz's default form can only use the Diamond Suit, so that's the one I described here. Now, onto the part that you people actually care about: His Forms!
The first and significantly less gaudy form you see here is Taroz Blank. By inserting the Taroz Deckbox into the Driver, he can actually just transform into this in-between form and use it as needed. He is a phantom thief, after all, he'll need to be sneaky at some points. This form's stats are laughably weak when compared to other forms, as to be expected, and can't use any weapons or use any Minor Arcana cards. Which means no weapons and no special attacks. All he has are the typical buffs to strength, speed, and durability that comes with being a Kamen Rider at all. But even still, the buffs he gets aren't anything special. Think of it as something like Kuuga's Growing Form. But, from here, he can scan Major Arcana cards to access his actual forms. Such as his true Default Form.
First, he'll draw a card from the Taroz Deckbox (in a manner similar to how Ryuki's Riders drew their cards), followed by him pressing the ruby button on his belt, starting the standby sound. Afterward, he'll hold the selected card up to the ring in the center of the belt, which will then scan the card and activate whatever ability that card was associated with. In this case, it's his primary transformation.
>>SHINE IN THE SHADOWS! TAROZ THE FOOL!! STEAL THE SHOW!!<<
Taroz Fool (yes, that's the actual name), is your typical jack of all trades master of none kind of form. No real advantages, but no real weaknesses either. Perfect for getting out of most sticky situations that he finds himself in as a phantom thief. Oddly enough, despite being associated with the light-elemental Diamond Suit, the Fool form actually grants Taroz dark-elemental powers, both coming together to give him abilities centered around both. And this harmony is best shown off by his primary weapon, The Fool's Bluffer. (I had a lot of fun coming up with that name, BTW)
The Fool's Bluffer, at first glance, seems like the typical bow-weapon we've all come to know and love in Kamen Rider shows, as it can be used as both a sword and a long-range attack option. But where this weapon stands out is the fact that it has two handles and two triggers... no, I'm not kidding. While holding onto one handle (so that the side with the purple spine and yellow blade is facing up), the bow's attacks have dark-elemental properties. But when holding the other handle (so that the yellow spine with the purple blade is the one on top), the slashes and arrows have light-elemental properties. Is there a practical purpose for any of this? Not really. But it was a cool idea in my head, so I made it real. The weapon can also scan cards to do any number of properties of its normal finishing attacks (the specifics of which depend on the scanned card, obviously).
-----
That's about all I have on this guy for now. Real name? The monsters he fights? His goals and desires? I'm just gonna leave that all up to interpretation for now. Not gonna set anything in stone yet. Besides, this is a Crowdsourced Rider, I'm sure you guys all have your ideas on what this guy could do. And hey, people have asked to use my characters/designs for FanFiction before -- maybe someone will write a story about Taroz! Who knows?
Okay. I'm rambling on at this point. While this wasn't the theme that I wanted to win way back when, I'm happy with the result that came out... even if it took far longer than it should have.
Please do not use the artwork without permission. The character depicted in the artwork is fair game, just not my actual pixel work itself. Enjoy~
