Description           Kay had planned her birthday out perfectly. The whole team was going to be there, and everybody would be having the time of their lives. "All smiles and no worries!" Kay had said happily.
But no one was smiling now.
Four Team Azul members sat in the Team Base. None of them were speaking, none were even moving, just staring into space with expresions of disbelief. Olive sat on her bed, trying to pry herself away from the horrible thoughts that held her mind. The eevee stole a glance at Kay, sitting in the corner. She had been like that for three days. She hadn't eaten, hadn't slept, hadn't done remotely anything except for sit and stare into some invisible distance. Beside Olive stood Sky, the vibrava who seemed to have known a lot about the "wind" that had killed Koru. He looked as though he had a lot on his mind, or he was trying to work out something. Zoe the zigzagoon, senior team member behind Olive and Kay, was fidgeting as usual. Olive could tell that she was having an inner war between her bouncy nature and her sorrow for Kay. Other team members and Pokemon from the Square had come to offer their apologies to Kay, but Olive had to speak for her, as she hadn't said a word since the expedition to Sky Tower.
A sudden whisper close by startled Olive, as no one had said anything all day. Also because the whisper had come from Kay. A chill passed through Olive as she realized what Kay had said.
           "It's my fault..."
                                                              * * *

Olive had spent the night in the Transform Forest, leaving Kay to her thoughts. And that night something very strange had happened.
It was another dream. But it wasn't like the first.
In the dream, Olive was in a place she had never been to before, but that seemed strangly familiar. She felt different, too. Olive looked down at her paws, but was startled to see that they had become bright yellow, and she was standing on her hind legs.
           She was a pikachu.
Strangely, the phenomenon hadn't troubled Olive much. In fact, a part of her, like another presence, felt that she had been that way her whole life, and it was quite stupid to think otherwise.
"Come ON, Kay! We haven't got all day!"
Olive looked up and her paws nearly gave way. It was Koru, but he looked much younger, by about ten years...
Kay's family had been killed ten years ago.
And then Olive knew. Somehow, she had tapped into Kay's memories. Her worst memory.
Olive/Kay started after Koru, and Olive saw other pikachus, and two raichus. Kay's parents and siblings. Kay came from a large family, and with two sisters and four brothers, Olive was completely surrounded by pikachus. She recodnized their names from pictures Kay had shown her. There was the oldest, Salem, and Kay's baby sister, Ariana, whom the mother raichu was carrying. Then there were Kay's four brothers, Tank, Kartin, Makki, and, of course, Koru.
Olive's pikachu feet carried her after the others, and a sinking feeling overcame her as she realized what was going to happen. "No! No! You'll all be killed!" she wanted to scream, but she had no control over her actions. All she could do was let herself walk toward tragedy.
She felt dizzy as she came closer and closer to the demise of Kay's family. She felt suddenly powerless, and a wave of hopelessness washed over her. Then a new thought crossed her mind. Of course Kay had survived the experiance, but would Olive? Suppose she wasn't strong enough to withstand near death? Well, that's a stupid question, Olive thought. If I was strong enough to survive Rayquaza's Hyper Beam, I can surely survive this. But would it be different this time, if she was in a different body? Olive was so lost in thought that she barely noticed where her feet were taking her. The family had settled in a small clearing, and the father raichu spread out what looked like a raggedy picnic blanket.
"Papa," Olive heard the Kay part of her say, "What's that? It feels like... wind."
No... Olive thought. There WAS a wind blowing, and it had the same chill as the one that had killed Koru. Kay's family died in a flood, she told herself. Not this... please, not this...
Kay's family had all stopped in the same way as Team Azul had in Sky Tower, frozen. But this time there was no Sky to warn them to run. "It... DOES feel like wind..." said Salem. "But it's eerie..." agreed Makki.
And again, the wind picked up. Olive braced herself for the rush of terror. She could see the fur of the other pikachus whipping in the wind.
"Dad," Kartin called over the howling gale. "Mabye this wasn't the best day for a picnic after-"
But his words were cut short as the gale rose to the strength of a hurricane, and the pikachu family was hurled into the wind. Like leaves they blew about, at the mercy of the wind. Olive screamed. She closed her eyes and let the wind carry her, praying that she wouldn't be the one the wind took. "I've got you!" a voice cried, and Olive opened her eyes to see Koru holding on to her as if for dear life. She saw the trees rushing past her, until one finally struck her, and Olive awoke in her own body again.
As soon as she was concious, her mind was made up. Olive stood up and walked out of the forest. She was going to question Sky about the wind.

Well, she only thinks they died in a flood. Really, they got killed by the Wind, just like Koru. I think the flood was an illusion created by Kay and Koru's memory... Or mabye something more sinister. Note: I will be writing the next chapter under the influence of "Felidae," which is a very nasty, disturbing book about cats and murder. But it's incredibly well written.
