          "Sky, I was wondering if you could tell me more about... the Wind."
           Olive aproached her vibrava friend cautiously, aware that the subject may be secure knowledge. The ever-burning sun of Furnace Desert shone high above them, causing Olive to sweat beneath her brown fur. Sky turned toward her with a gloomy expression on his face. "The Wind," he began in a grave voice, "You really want to know about that? That knowledge is a curse. It torments those who know of it's existance, and we keep it from those who are close to finding out."
          "What?" exclaimed Olive, startled, "You mean that you erase memories? How could you do that? And who's 'we?'"
           Sky gave her a strangely cold look. "'We' are the dragons. It's the dragons' duty to contain the Wind and keep it secret. We have for centuries. We posses a power to erase any memories of the Wind and replace them with illusions of other disasters. Take, for example, the 'flood' that killed Kay's family."
            "You know about that? Are you the one who erased Kay's memory?"
            Sky opened his mouth to speak, but then closed it. He seemed to be thinking of some difficult problem in his head. His features were contorted with confusion, and Olive wondered what was going on up there. He turned to face her once more, and he questioned "How can YOU know of that? You weren't there."
             "I-I had a dream." Olive admitted, "And it was so strange. I think I tapped into Kay's memories somehow, and I WAS Kay. I mean, I couldn't control my actions or anything, but I saw the whole thing from Kay's point of view." She paused. "But why did her whole family die? You said the Wind only takes one life."
              From the first words she spoke, Sky had been standing rigid, looking shocked. "You saw the death? Through another's memories? But...but it can't be. That would only happen if..." his voice trailed off.
              Before Olive could question him further, there was a screech. Zoe was racing toward them, screaming bloody murder. Her little zigzagoon paws pounded the desert sand until she skidded to a halt in front of Sky and Olive, gasping for breath and struggling to speak between stutters.
               "Zoe, what is it? What's going on?"
               Zoe grabbed a pawful of the white fur around Olive's neck for support, and she managed to gasp "In..in Wild Plains... horrible... Rita... Fang... they're... you have to come!" The zigzagoon had started to cry from hysterics. Olive could tell that she wasn't in any condition to answer more questions. "Come on!" she cried, tugging on Sky's wing so as to urge him forward.
                Her mind racing as fast as her feet, Olive ran toward the Wild Plains with Zoe and Sky beside her. Her thoughts were filled with visions of the possibilities of what had happened. Rita and Fang were a ratatta and poochyena duo, and they enjoyed going on rescues together. Still very young, the two friends couldn't defend themselves against tougher enemies. What had happened to them?
                 The answer to Olive's question came in a sickening jolt when the trio reached Wild Plains.
                  Rita and Fang were laying splayed across the grass, blood still flowing from the fresh wounds that covered and had cut apart their bodies. They were dead.
                  Olive's paws gave way and she sank to the crimson-stained earth. "No." She choked. This can't be happening. This can't be happening. Zoe had been crying that whole time, and she was positively bawling now. Sky flew to the two bodies and examined them closely. "Claw marks." He concluded. "They were sliced apart by some vicious Fury Swipes attack, or mabye Crush Claw."
                   "Who would do something like this?" sobbed Olive, nearly in the same state as Zoe. "Who would murder an innocent Pokemon like this while they slept?" She touched Fang's scarf gently, a pale red color that was soaked with crimson. At the back of her thoughts Olive took note that Rita's hot pink scarf was gone. She always loved that scarf, Olive thought, and she began to sob even harder.
                    "Where's Kay? She should know about this." Sky summarized. "You- you can go get her. She's probably back at the Team base." Olive stammered between sobs. In the state her friend was in, would Kay even care? Sky flew off, leaving the others to mourn the cruel loss of their team members.
                    In what could have been a heartbeat or an eternity, Sky was back. "I couldn't find Kay. But I did find... this."
                     In Sky's outstreched claws was Rita's bloodied scarf.
