You're talking about a Gijinka, an anthropomorphized version of a non human being, and I've written a series of journals about adoptables, so you might find your answers there. This is the first one: karijn-s-basement.deviantart.cā¦
Enjoy.

If you mean the alpaca ones, the idea of candies is cute, even though writing the name *on* the adoptable kind of ruins the art. Your chibis (the freebies you made) are quite good and have nice designs, though you have changed a lot of styles, so they get a bit confusing all together.

There is something I still don't understand about adoptables: when you draw one and someone buy it, does it mean that I could never draw it anymore and use it in one of my drawing?
š: 0 ā©: 1
Karijn-s-Basement In reply to Ichig0Minako [2013-05-24 16:01:13 +0000 UTC]
I'm confused a bit about the pronouns here, but the bottom line is that the buyer owns the character. If you want to draw it, you can, but you have to write somewhere in the description that the character is not copyrighted to you but to the one who bought it. Letting them know you made a drawing of their character is a nice thing to do, too. A bit like fanart.

Tzik In reply to ??? [2013-05-24 09:59:58 +0000 UTC]
um... I'm a mouse user. Is that not accepted? I mean, isn't it the quality of the design that counts, rather than how neat the lineart looks? :I
š: 0 ā©: 1
Karijn-s-Basement In reply to Tzik [2013-05-24 14:39:31 +0000 UTC]
Of course you can use a mouse but, like I always say in my Adoptables Journals, a buyer only sees the final result. And not all buyers are looking to draw the character.
For example, I care little about the art quality of the designs I buy, because I know that I will re-draw them eventually, so the initial style will matter little. But what would happen if a writer was looking for a new character to write about? Visual impact is important in this case.
Or even bypassing the writer, think about a simple collector. He'd rather pick something that looks pretty rather than original.
Not fair, but that's generally how things go.

Does your program recognize your tablet? I had a bit of trouble in the beginning because the drivers weren't properly installed.
In the event you don't have a tablet, you can always use vectors, they have a thickness option.

Thank.

I've recently put an adopt up for an auction, however I did not fully color it, it's all simple solid colors. (Damn my laziness. -Sobs.-) I'll definitely stare at this tutorial for the whole day the next time I make an adoptable. quq

Karijn-s-Basement In reply to TheAssbuttNamedYuba [2013-05-11 17:59:58 +0000 UTC]
Haha, it depends on what kind of adoptable it it, if it's an original species, a couple of solid colours aren't really that bad.

Beky-Adopts In reply to ??? [2013-03-27 18:43:26 +0000 UTC]
How much do you think a detailed "head" would be appreciated?
š: 0 ā©: 1
Karijn-s-Basement In reply to Beky-Adopts [2013-03-27 19:36:18 +0000 UTC]
Unfortunately a head is a very partial design, meaning that the adopter would have to design the rest of the character by themselves...
Plus, you have less things to customize (no clothes, extra limbs, body shape) and you can't elaborate a lot without raising the price, which brings us back to the 'it's just part of a character' and people would rather pay for the whole thing than just the head.
Of course, this is just my opinion, but there are not many head adopts out there, neither human nor feral.
