Would you be willing to give me some tips on the first adoptable I put out? I understand it's selling concepts so my first rendition was sketchy then I realized I had to be much more clean with it. Do you have any helpful criticism?

About the unicorn girl? Not really criticism as much as suggestions... First, the file you show is a bit too big. Big files are used to show the details, but with an adoptable the important part is the overall design.
The preview image is small, though, so I would choose something in the middle... I've found that a height of 550/600 pixels is often big enough to show everything.
Considering the price, you might want to downsize your preview and offer the bigger one to the buyer, instead of uploading it 'for free', let's say. (Something that I found a bit disconcerting was the difference between the two sizes in the eyes' technique, especially when compared to the much cleaner lines of the body... I'm guessing that's what you meant by sketchy.)
The second thing is that you might want to increase the number of groups you submitted her to. Paypal adopts are harder to sell in a community whose moving power is points, so you might want to look for some paypal adopts groups or some chibi/anthro/kemonomimi adopts and sumbit her there too.

Ah, one question: what benefits are there for points? I understand DA takes 20% when you use them, but why do people like points more?

The benefit is mainly the widening of your possible purchasers. Not many people on dA have the possibility of having a paypal account (mainly underage deviants whose parents don't want to make a paypal for their children to use), so they use points to pay for adoptables/buy dA-related products.
I did a poll back in July, asking if people would accept an overcharge to balance out this 20% and they answered positively, so I started doing both customs and commissions with points too.

No one was born learnt, it's what my high school teacher used to say. Not sure if I translated it right, but appreciate the effort.
And I noticed that, when I withdraw my earnings, it tells me that my premium membership lets me do it without a $1 fee, so my guess is that the platform is already available to be used by everyone. °-°
You should try submitting an adoptable with sta.sh and check if there's the 'Premium Content' option on the right side of the page. It has a rainbow diamond on the side.

I started when I was very young (12 or 13) because the site where I usually read fanfictions updated them too slowly, so I went on fanfiction.net to the English section and started reading. I tried to learn Spanish this way too, but I'm a lot older now and also a lot lazier.
Good luck with that second language, whichever it is.

It's the name of a weapon in Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, but comes originally from the Norse Mythology: Sieglinde.

Out of curiosity, what do you do with the adoptables once you buy them?

Mainly I draw them... Unfortunately my main story has gone too far to introduce new characters in this way (even Babel and Babylon never appear in it), but I still like to imagine small scenes where they interact with each other.
Due to lack of time I can't draw as much as I'd wish so I take extra care to do my bases and I simply need to do the design instead of re-making the lineart/shadows every time. I know this can come out a bit lazy, but it's a good way to maintain the species' standard and not to make people pay $20-$25 for every adoptable I dish out.

I have written the backgrounds on the reference sheets posted here on dA, but I've never sat down and started writing it anywhere.
