Description
Due to Popular Demand~I've made a tutorial on how to make clay/sculpey eyes for plush!
I actually had a really fun time making this one. It only took me around two hours, versus the 10+ it took to make
the Toothless one. Not to mention I could do this one outside. It was such a beautiful day out.
Watch out when using the super glue! I glued my fingernail to my finger on several occasions. See what I do for you guys?
If there's anything you don't understand, ask me! If this tutorial isn't clear, I'd love to go back in and change it.
I'll have a text version up soon. I just need to get it formatted correctly.
once again, i do love those llamas

I'm new to all this plush-making-stuff, but I was really wanting to give this one a shot (I mean some on! its toothless! how could I pass that up?!?) I find both of your tutorials clear and helpful, but the one question I do have is exactly what kind of glaze do you use...? that's probably a dumb question, but I've never used glaze on clay things like that before, so I have no idea what kind you're supposed to use

I use an acrylic based satin glaze- I'd tell you the brand, but the bottle I use is from Ames, (which closed like, YEARS ago). I'm pretty sure that, if you go to you local craft store then go to the acrylic paint isle, you'd be find with whatever satin glaze you find.

So helpful . Just a question, I'm going to do the Night fury plush with your other tutorial, and I wonder if I can put the eyes on the plush after having stuffed it. If yes, how? Thank you
!

Mmm, it would probably not. If you have stuffed it already without the head, I reccomend pulling out the seams somewhere, (just enough for you to get a hand in it), pulling out the stuffing, then attaching the eyes and re-stuffing it.

This is probably a stupid question... BUT... How does one go about attaching the eyes to the plush? Is there a super big secret, or is it as simple as just sewing it in? Any pointers so my Toothless eyes aren't doing strange things that they shouldn't be doing? LOL
This is so helpful, and it's definitely a skill I'll take with me while making puppets and other crazy things in the future. You're so incredibly helpful to all of us. Thank you for sharing! It was worth your time!

Not a stupid question at all! I should have thought about it while I was making the tutorial. I'll go in and edit it after I finish my homework.
If you have the safety eyes, all you need to do is cut a small hole, small enough for the peg to go through. Then, put your washer on the end of the peg, and press down so the eye is held in place. After you do that, I like to add a thin layer of gorilla glue ~1/5" away from the edge of the eye, applying it to the eye, then pressing it down on the fabric. That way, you don't get crusty glue spots, but the eye in held in place well.
No problem! Thank you for the kind comments. I really do appreciate them ^^.

Yup! My Night Furies at least. I hadn't used clay eyes until I made my first Toothless. Now I love using them.

*laugh* Ironically enough, I went to go see the movie for the first time today and then stopped by Joann's to bring up the tutorial so I could get the materials needed for the plush. I had to laugh because you posted the eye tutorial while I was at the movie, so I could peruse that too on my iPhone while at Joann's! Fantastic! There's a group of us planning to all do our own Toothless.

I can't wait to see all the Toothies you make! Do send me a photo when you're done!

I think the biggest thing you could do would be to just label your pattern pieces - thing like "body, top" or "head, side" or "leg, pad"
IT KINDA HELPS TO ORIENTATE YOURSELF WHEN YOU PRINT IT OUT
But I like the numbered tab idea
you'd better be
