Maybe it's just me that is unappreciated, because nobody cared about my talent until I joined DeviantArt. Anyways, I'm glad that artists aren't the most unappreciated.

Yup. Every time I'm drawing, my dad would always say: Why don't you clean up the house instead of just drawing?

It'll be fine if you uhhh... already done your business, studied, done your homework, and then started drawing... or sometimes help your parents with something...
But... if parents go so far as to berate their child for just drawing... without even letting him/her do their beloved hobby during break time... That's crossin' the line.

I use to get this all the time with my dad too when I was drawing. It pretty much got to the point to where my dad would yell upstairs "what are you doing?" and I would just yell back "nothing important" (because that was the same as yelling back "I'm drawing") and often I would have to stop my project to help him with something.

My mom used to do this when I was still in high school. Not directly tho, more of "oh, you're drawing again?" then looking at me like she expects me to do somethings else.

Story of my life.
Except it's usually my mother who tells me drawing is considered nothing. I find that it amusing and irritating that people find it that way but they will consider playing pointless video games and other such things as doing something.

I especially like when they basically say your time is better spent doing dishes than drawing

my hypothesis is that it's herd instinct combined with jealousy that makes people do this. Β I'll bet there isn't a single creative person who hasn't experienced this. Β Keep creating wonderful things fellow artists! Β
