my shading is nowhere near realistic but i do that on purpose, not aiming to be realistic
the normal version isn’t realistic either, it’s just it’s plain and i used to shade that way and the pics weren’t so lively

I really like your shading techniques Kawacy! I too find that shading comes alive when you don't limit it to one set of colors. It really adds a dimension of life all its own!

I don't really get it ;-;, like which one is the highlight..the circle? the end of the arrow? how far do you move the hue for each shade? etc. I really like your shading style so I just wanna ask

It's not very easy to do on paint, but it is possible
A better free alternative for MS Paint is Medibang Paint, as it comes with layers and effects

i personally dont like realistic stuff because i never see anything as vibrant as art from the mind. My art teachers always says this style of art will get you nowhere in life but look at you kawacy. You can make a living of your amazing art.

This is what I'm struggling with a lot. For some reason my brain won't pick color pallets that makes images more lively.

Ooooh, now this is really interesting! I'd always thought the normal way of shading looked pretty boring too, but my own experiments have never really resulted in a shading method I really liked. I'll have to give this one a try!

Thanks to this I am experimenting with this style as well, makes it all look very lively in my opinion! Although for me it doesn't work as well yet I think your drawings look very good!

I like to do this with greens in particular because standard green shading tends to make green look extremely drab and gray

I never thought of that. I just pick out whatever shade for when I draw. I don't consider any pattern on the hue of the colors I use.

The skin shading for Sabrina between "normal" and your style are very subtle. I honestly couldn't see a difference unless I stared hard at it and was purposely trying to see it. However, now that I DO see it, the normal style seems to give her more "life", however seems to be a bit more generic. Your style almost seems like she's more "lifeless", or creepy in fact, however because of that it begins to stand out more than the normal. Your style definitely feels more dynamic. I like it.

Cause shadow and light sources have color to them
