An awsome liottle tutorial!
Ive actually used it as part of an art assesment!
been wanting to make underwater scenes for a long time, ive also never used the dodge and burn tools before so it was a great little exersize for me.
I plan to use it for some water dragon art, ill send you a link when im done if you want ^^ (ill also credit you on the description )
Anywho, there was one issue that had me stumped for ages...
When i first used the dodge tool to make the sun shine on the waters 'surface' i couldent get it to look right, the colour was very blocky and did not merge as softly as your image showed. I made sure all my setting were as you had demonstrated. A little while later i noticed a small tick box named (protect tones) this was automatically ticked and when i turned this off it suddenly worked like a treat!
I use PS4, not sure if its a program thing but thought it worth mentioning for others in the future.
Anyway, thanks again for a great lil tutorial. All the best, Sky

I had the exact same issue with the dodge tool and had no idea how to fix it as I am still rather new to painting in photoshop so thanks SOOO much for pointing that out. Helped me a lot.
And this tutorial is amazing! So happy I found it as I wanted something other than just a boring old white background for the dragon (The god of water) that I am drawing atm.
I'll make sure to credit you in the description when I finally put it up sometime soon.

I love this tutorial I'm so happy you made it :3
I was finally able to attempt this today, and was wondering if you could look over and critique my attempt. [link] I did a lot of improvising off of yours, and couldn't figure out how to get the shiny bits in GIMP, but I think it turned out at least okay, though it needs work.

I don't have just a burn option. T_T Unless it's labeled as something else, or I just can't find it.
All I have is a Color Burn and Linear Burn and it won't let me edit anything on them.
