Like all cubs, Kopa loved his father and wanted his love and attention. Kopa would often times try to play with his dad, because he seemed lonely but mostly because there were no other cubs Kopa's age.

However, Scar never seemed to care for his son's presence, always shouting for his mother to retrieve and punish him.

This rejection only strengthened Kopa's resolve, and started acting just like his father in order to gain his attention.
