The guard chastised Vitani for her rude behavior. They all argued that, "these prissy lionesses have only known freedom and getting fatter by the day. They don't know suffering. Not hunger. Not fighting. It's not entirely Zuri's fault for her reaction. But we're in the Pridelands now. We don't have to act like we did in our old lives. We have to coexist. So that means apologizing to Zuri."

Vitani conceded and left her son in the paws of Shahaba. She found Zuri on one of Pride Rock's many ledges overlooking the stars. When Zuri noticed Vitani sit next to her, she cocked an eyebrow. "What are you doing here?"

"In short, to apologize."

Zuri looked skeptical. "Really, now?"

"Yes." Vitani replied apprehensively. "What I said was mean and unnecessary. I should have just pulled you aside and spoken to you kindly. I'm sorry for how my words effected you."

"Wow," Zuri said, "With an apology like that, I can't NOT forgive you."

"Heh. Thanks." Vitani tried to smile, but Zuri's face was still sullen. "Listen, where I come from, scars are attractive. Scars mean you bested something that coulda bested you. Where I'm from, you're beautiful."

Zuri sat with this information for a moment, then her expression cracked into a grin. "Is this some pathetic attempt to confess your love for me?"

Vitani blushed. "No, that's not it at all! I'm just trying to help you realize that beauty is subjective. You're not automatically ugly just because you have scars."

"Well, it's just," Zuri began with a sigh, "My parents were always hyper focused on my appearance, and it really effected me. I had to be perfect at all times."

"In a way, we're the same. Both expected to be perfect by our parents. It's a huge burden to carry."

"I.. had no idea we were so similar. Even from different worlds. Maybe we can be friends?"

Vitani was taken aback. "Uh.. friends? I guess we can try?"

Zuri smiled.

even though it took me like a year to make a part 2, it only takes a few hours for the conflict to be resolved. zuri and vitani kind of become uneasy friends, and through Zuri, Vitani befriends her future mate.
