Some of you may remember my previous rendition of Kakashi in Charcoal . Well, that original drawing never sat well with me, and after a review by the kind folks at ProjectComment (you should totally check out the group, they're awesome) I realized that I need to fill out the whitespace and the hair a bit more. A bit of experimenting later, this happened. It's definitely a different feel than v1, but I like it a lot. Gestural stuff like this is what charcoal was made for.

I'd already fixed the previous drawing, so trying to do subtleties and minute changes was a nightmare. The paper stopped erasing properly...part of the reason I decided to take it more dramatic and abstract

I noticed that people really liked the bit of charcoal dust that made it seem as though Kakashi's mask was disintegrating. Initially it was entirely on accident, but I decided to expand on it. Making accidental looking marks on purposes is really hard >_<. Many pieces of vine charcoal were sacrificed >_> Doing this kind of stuff traditionally is a lot of fun, but also way harder than digitally where you can just slap down a brush.

As always, looks better in person than onscreen...my phone killed all the detail, especially in the bottom right
