Description This is the tale of three very brave little mice.
They were very good friends, having met at their local karate club, their names were James, Carl and Tony.

One day, the three mice, armed with their gi's and brown belts, set off in search of adventure, but before going too far James began complaining that he was thirsty, and so they stopped for a short rest in a local tavern. Unfortunately, being poor student mice, they could only afford one drink each, and so they downed their mini mouse pints and continued their travels.
Before long they came to a busy dock, people were everywhere, and so the mice had to be careful not to get trod on.

Tony (the oldest and bravest of the young mice) said to the others "lets sneak aboard a ship and find adventure on the high seas" but James (little wimp) replied

"But surely they have cats on the ships? I don't want to be eaten"

And so like the little democratic mice they are, they voted on it.  Carl sided with Tony and so it was that the three mice came to be aboard the "Shotokan" (which, incidentally, was free of cats). This ship was bound for Australia, to pick up a huge consignment of opals and so they sailed, for twenty days and twenty nights, the weather was mostly fine, the waves were small and the sun shone, even so, James got seasick.

Whilst on-board they made friends with several of the resident mice and played such shipboard games as shuffleboard and mouse-pool., Carl even taught the resident mice some karate moves, and they had a little tournament! Tony almost won but was knocked out by an impressive gyaku-zuki from a little girl-mouse called Amy!

And so it went until they reached Australia, there the three brave little mice left the ship, promising to keep in touch with their new friends, and went to seek their fortune in the opal mines, only it turned out that, although big in heart and spirit, the poor little mice were too small to do any useful work in the mines!

"Well," said James, "I knew something like this would happen" the other two told him not to be such a complete rain cloud (a little mouse expression for a boring person) and they decided to travel across to the gold fields and see if they could find their fortune there.

Being sensible mice, they stowed away in the hold of a plane which they knew was going to the gold fields.  They stepped off the plane and almost immediately Carl tripped over a gold nugget almost as large as his fist! The mice searched for gold for seven days, by the end of the week all three little rucksacks were full and so a council was held to decide what they would do next!

"I say we take the gold and buy bitter" said James.
"I want to go snowboarding in Austria" said Carl.
"Well", said Tony, "I came in search of adventure, and I have not only found it, but I've made a fair bit of money as well, what I want to do is return home, share the money with my family and prepare for our black-belt grading"

At the mention of the grading the other two suddenly realised that it was less than two months away, and it took them almost a month to get home!  So it was decided that they would set out for home immediately. At the dock Carl ad Tony sent James to scout about and find a ship bound for England.

He returned a short while later with fantastic news...

And, according to the story, it seems you suck at karate. ^_^ (jk)

Amy, in all her anonymous grace and splendour, is an excellent storywriter. This story of three little mice is a world of beautiful freedom and adventure, so simple yet so amazingly beautiful. Keep pushing for those novel and film rights!
Heheh...there's no shame in being beaten by a woman. I say this free of irony...they can be sneaky little things sometimes...
