Personality:
Usually quiet and reserved. Very curious and loves to learn new things. He tends to be a little too easy going, which usually results in people mistreating him, but he doesn’t seem to mind much as long as they aren’t outright abusing him. Won't get angry until he is pushed way too far, but will likely voice his frustrations.

Background:
Sam was the youngest of three siblings and was raised by an extremely militant father and an obedient mother. Sam’s father would never physically harm them, but he often kept them confined to their house and controlled what the family was allowed to do or even eat. This went on until Sam was 11, when a fire started in their home in the middle of the night. Sam had been forced to sleep in the attic that night and managed to survive by breaking a window and jumping out. He sustained only minor injuries from the fall, but the rest of his family perished in the fire. Officials never found the cause of the fire and so dismissed the fire as a tragic accident. After Sam recovered, he was sent to a group youth home and given access to therapy. Sam began to focus strongly on his education, and was thrilled to have so much access to books and information. His guardians quickly found that he was a very gifted learner and placed him in advanced courses. Sam worked hard and by the age of 24 he earned PhD’s in both Genetics and Mathematics. He then moved to Irk’s Capital city and began searching for a job as a Geneticist. He didn’t have enough funds to start his own lab, but most Geneticists at the time were either not looking for a partner or thought he was “over qualified” as an assistant. Frustrated with his situation, Sam took on a job at a local coffee shop to earn some money until he could find a job in his career field. After overhearing Sam explain to a coworker why he was working in a coffee shop instead of some fancy lab somewhere, an officer introduced herself as Rue and told Sam that she had a friend that might be able to help. Rue referred Sam to a local Geneticist named Stef'n, and although he was a little rough around the edges, was currently working independently and would probably appreciate the help. He met with Stef'n and soon after was hired on, albeit a little reluctantly at first. Sam proved himself to be a very dutiful assistant and was very happy to finally have his life back on track. Sam and Rue kept finding excuses to meet each other again and eventually were prompted by Stef'n to “just get it over with and go out on a date already”. Sam and Rue then started dating officially and have been happy together ever since. <3
