Description
Daz3D / PhotoshopHey all
I'm a big Dr Who nut. As soon as I saw the Police Box in the Daz store, I just knew I had to try something.
There was no way I could get the likeness spot on with the characters, so I got as close as I could. Rose is made up of various items I own to try and emulate her style, the the Doctor is also made this way using Michael 7 (who I thinned down to get that lanky look!). I cheated a bit by Photoshoping David Tennants eyes and nose onto the final render
There is a sunset HDRI and a few spotlights here and there to get the highlights I wanted. I also used Godrays over Rose to get the desired look.
The explosion and sparks and flares were added in post. The image was then colour balanced.
Thanks for looking

Very nice lighting, and a good dynamic setup here. I really love the sense of hurry you conveyed here, you start to feel tension for the character the moment you look at the picture. The embers and the light-at-the-end-of-the-box are a beautiful addition to that. Never seen Dr.Who, but the picture is beautiful.

Brilliantly done!
I would have snapped up the Police Box myself if it also had 3Delight materials!

Thank you. It's a shame there's no 3Delight materials, I though everything came with the option If you can get it though I do recommend it, I'm sure this isn't the last time I'll be putting the Dr in peril

Β I'm so happy to see that work didn't strap you down enough to stop you from creating this. Β As much as I love fantasy & scifi it's weird that I've never watched one single episode of Dr. Who (I am familiar with it tho) Β It really is a great action scene, love her running pose as it looks very natural and how her hand is reaching out to him to get to safety and choosing the cool colors on right and warm on left definitely work for this. Β Love all the sparkle fire effect as well and textures on the floor etc, but I must also give you high props for story and your composition and angling, it just really gives that feel....hard to explain myself at times. ughΒ
Anyway, great work Neil, really do love this.

Ha ha, yeah, even though I'm working flat out I'm still trying to find time to create an image or 2 (I have one in the works, getting an hour here and there to complete it). You've never watched Dr Who? I highly recommend it, but then I'm biased been a big fan (I have a scale TARDIS in my living room).
Thank you so much for your positive feedback I always try to start with a story. The who, what, why, where and when. Once I have that worked out the elements of an image tend to fall into place. It's not always necessary but it certainly helps sometimes. I'm really happy you like it though, you have so much great work I always have to keep the quality high

Super work. The Doctor looks fantastic and that is a very Rose-looking outfit.

Thank you. The Rose outfit is based on the episodes The Stolen Earth/Journeys End, I thought it was quite iconic and easily recognised to help sell the idea. The key to the Doctor was the body shape and of course his Converse Β

So, the important question... Favourite Doctor?

It's a tough question, it's almost like asking which is your favourite child
I'm going to have to give multiple answers for different reasons. Fave docs are Tennant, Smith and Baker. Each brought different qualities but at certain times in my life that just resonated. If someone asked me to pick just one though I couldn't.Β
You?

Davison is 'my Doctor' (the one I liked most when I was little), but for the modern era, and in terms of actually thoroughly watching whole series... Smith.
It was Tennant, but then Smith came along. I also liked Amy and Rory a lot, which helped the early Smith out. Really disliked Clara and stopped watching after a while. From what I have seen of Capaldi, whilst I like him a lot as an actor, his doctor does nothing at all for me.

I do have a soft spot for Davison, I don't think I missed an episode back in those days.
I agree with your point about Smith, Amy and Rory really helped the dynamic of the show back then. I think if I had to choose it would be Smith. I felt Clara stuck around to long, and I almost gave up on Capaldi in his first season, but stuck with it and it has got better.Β
I'm looking forward to the next season though with it been Moffats last. See if he goes out with a bang

Glad to hear Capaldi has improved. I hope Moffat's final season will be a thrilling one!
