Description Just a project I've been working on in 3ds Max. Dont really know how far I'll take it but the modeling is complete. Comments or suggestions?

Amazing, I love everything in this, what did you use to light it?

Can I ask how you have Max set up for this rendering? I personally like the grey on gray non-textured look, but I can never get my rendering to come out very well. Is it a single light source?

I've never really tried making guns in 3D max, but this render makes me want to try
Very nice work.

awesome work... you should import it into a game that supports mods... that would be awesome mounted to the back of a warthog on halo... lol

Yeah looks great but I'm curious as to the poly count and what the models intended fucntion will be?

This is a very VERY good idea. I know nothing about 3d modeling. But wow....one thing that i see that is uh...not as attractive as the rest. The chords. Tho they are sexy and look very smooth, this day n age is all about "chordless". This work is amazing tho.

Thats awsome man, I wish I could use it well, all my attempts never came out at all, I made a square once and it came out wrong XD

THey looks great; I like the bulky look of them. I wonder how they'd look if they have integrated ammo boxes and longer barrels? Very nice.

Just wondering but how long did it take you to create this? I find it a pain in the ass just moving shapes about in 3Ds max, mind you I've only been at it a few weeks, How long have you been using it?

I'm using that program in college and fuck me i find it hard making a basic chair and getting it to fit together properly. what you've done here is just CRAZY!

Belt fed automatic machine gun? Ok. They certainly look good with the second barel. Is that supposed to be a spare or is that firing every other shot to prevent the gun from overheating. Also, is that hooked up to a battery of some kind, or is that a water container to prevent overheating, because either way, it leaves the gun vulnerable because it is a second target that can defeat the primary unit. Also, the scanning unit (that allows it to track movement) APPEARS to be on top of the gun itself (I may be wrong, but it certainly looks like a scanning unit). This is another vulnerability, especially to enemy fire since it just paints a large target on the device. The tripod is appropriate, but it also hinders the mobility of the gun. Anything at a certain downward angle becomes impossible because the gun simply can't aim down far enough because it is stuck on the metal tripod. The bullet belt feed also seems relatively small for such a powerful gun. I'm shocked that it would have so little ammunition. It could run out of that in a minute if there's enough enemies.
Outside of my comments on the gun's equipment, I think this is pictured rather well. The design excluded, the detail is exquisite, including the carrying case and the basic design of the gun. It's futuristic, somewhat blocky (but it's not to be carried anyway, so it should probably have it's own armor and blockiness to make sure it can survive actual hits itself). Overall, I like the look of it, but the gun itself could use a LITTLE work (although it's still a very solid concept, it has a few vulnerabilities).

Truely nice moddeling mate.. tho i have some realisme problems... like.. the buffer?? where is it?? i could imagine a system that worked below the ammo feed.. but that just seems like alot of work for nothing.. i wont explain to you here, how it works if you dont know.. i would suggest you study up on it or ask me and ill send an explaination

and with that problem comes another.. cus the there is two barrels but only one belt.. this too could be solved by some internal mechanisme.. perhaps... but it just seems pointless to do instead of just feeding 2 belts.

im suggesting these things cus i think you have such a good hold on the moddeling part that its on the story behind the model you can get further now

Nice...
Only thing I can suggest is work a bit more on the wires on the ground. I don't know max, but in Maya if you do extrude alone the curve. You can convert NERB into poly keep a history of it and adjust curve while looking at finish work in polygons. Helps a lot!! Hope you can do the same in 3D max. Good luck.

suggestion: make me a real one? ;D

i can just step into that and mess with the buttons and play with the triggers. amazing work.

you already know that the modeling is brilliant, my only comment is perhaps have larger ammunition crates, as the guns give the impression they would run through the ones present lickity-quick.

that is so cool i can touch it. It really looks like a plastic model for some kinda war game, like warhammer 40k. such a nice model man, i really like the fact that its not textured to. coooooool

ooo I want one! Excellent job man, at first the thumbnail looked liked plastic toys, and i don't mean that in a bad way I mean it looked like you had physically made them thats how realistic they looked, I hope you don't dump this project or at least come back to it one day and get those textures on there!

Maybe holes in the barrel flashing to help with cooling? And handles to help with aiming? Triggers? The handles you do have on the guns look like they'd be good for lifting and hauling them, but they'd be useless for aiming them, unless the aiming mechanism is robotic in some way, perhaps. Optical target acquisition keyed to motion sensors? Or perhaps based on a line-of-sight iris-following targeting mechanism in the operator's goggles, like how fighter pilots aim? Regardless, it might still be beneficial to have a manual override in case of power loss or damage to the battery packs.

Nice design, BTW. Love to see how these look fully rendered.

was this in any way based on the remote guns in Aliens? cuz it looks like it a bit. But yea, put some textures on it and it's beyond perfect. it's perfect the way it is, but that would add so much pwnage.

They look a lot like the automated guns in the director's cut of Aliens. Maybe looking at those would help you work on the texturising?

Very cool, also.
