Description Oil on Canvas
20" X 36"
A friend saw an earlier painting (Birds of a Feather)and wanted one of his own featuring the same mountain range.  These are the Superstition Mountains which stand just East of Mesa, Arizona. They
dominate the landscape and are the setting for a variety of legends and mysteries.

Dare I say your work is the stuff of legends?...yes I dare!
I am in awe!

Thank you!  A lot of your work took me back...45 years?  Was it that long ago?  Back when I had all kinds of energy and enthusiasm and wished I lived in San Francisco.Well, as the wise man Jimi said, "Wave your freak flag high! "  Much of your work is kinder and gentler, but still reminds me of those old days.  Good work.  Just keep going!

I know you must've heard this before, but some of your paintings are just impossible to pick apart from your photographs. Seriously, I wouldn't know this was a painting were it not for the description. How long does it take you to make such a piece? It must be madness!

I did this one from photographs I took while I was in Arizona, so it didn't take too long.  The ones that eat up the time are the ones like "Emissaries" where I really have nothing to go on except my imagination.  Often, what seemed like a cool idea fails to live up to expectations and has to be done over and over until I get something that looks right.

OMG!  This is truly spectacular!  That cloud cover is just, dare I say it?  Heavenly!  Wow,  what a talent you have.

I just downloaded this for a desktop wall paper!

I did this for a friend....he liked the clouds too!

I have not doubt.  The clouds are for me, the predominant focal point of the drawing.  The mountains are legendary of course, and beautiful but when I saw that cloud cover it was like "OMG", a real wowomojo moment!

This is a cool artwork!

I love the lighting, it looks like a photograph of a real desert.

Thank you!  The guy who commissioned it lives within sight of the same mountains, so I had to be as accurate as I could.

W-o-w! Thomas Moran has to be up in heaven nodding his head and smiling! Your client must be thrilled.

Thank you!  I think I would please Mr. Moran's ghost by working larger...wall size, perhaps.  I need to take my camera and head over to the Grand Canyon for some inspiration!

The man I did this painting for needs only to glance out of his window to see the real mountains....so it needs to be pretty accurate.  The people out there are proud of their mountains and, I am guessing, are kind of fussy about how they get depicted.  I had to resist the temptation to turn both clouds and mountains into a pair of dragons...the clouds especially suggest that.

I just do not have enough words to express what I feel looking at your picture.
The power of nature, fortitude, meditation, delight in nature, drowning in beauty, quiet silent walk of friends...And a lot of everything else that just whirls around in my head
I enjoy the colors and lighting, it seems to me that I walk there
